Maternity Pay question - is it as simple as this??

i have been working in a small office since just before I got pregnant ( I am now 32 weeks). The accountant is going to tell me what she's calculated to be my stat mat leave pay tomorrow in terms of numbers. so i have the two payslips for the 8 week period (weeks 17-25), I want to make sure she's done it crrectly as a) she's not very good and b) she doesn't like me so don't want to go on her word only. it's just basic, so that should be 6 weeks at 90% and then the basic rate per week for however many weeks it is after that.

can someone tell me if my pay slips for those two periods are as follows on tax code 603L:

taxable pay: 1920
net pay: 1415.23

then

taxable pay: 2070
net pay: 1505.93

is it really as straightforward as calculating 90% of the average of the two net pays for those first 6 weeks? if not what should it be? please can someone give me a number?? TIA!

ARe figures you have given for 4 weeks only, not monthly?

smpcalculator.hmrc.gov.uk/SMP1.aspx

This will help you get an exact figure, but it should be roughly £498 per week gross for 6 weeks, then basic rate.

If those two amounts add up to your total pay for that 8 week period, I make your average weekly pay to be £498.75, by adding the amounts together and dividing by 8 to find a weekly average. So I reckon your SMP for the first 6 weeks on that basis should be £498.75 / 100 x 90 = £448.88 a week for the 6 weeks.
