Grocery bills ?

I am trying to figure out what is reasonable as we are trying to economise. I read somewhere that an average grocery bill in the UK is £600. Do you think this is about right?

ours is about 500 a month.

£600??? Over what timescale?

Oh, over a month! Phew! Still quite a lot though, I would have thought.

my God that is a huge grocery bill!
My top tip is to plan your meals for the week, make a list of what you need for these meals and stick to it.
My weekly shop costs me £90 when i need things like washing powder, etc. But normally its about £40/50. I tend to buy the shops own brands but stick to my list.
Oh and eat before you go shopping, that always helps me!

Sorry. £600 for a month. I think that is for an average family with 2 children.

I would say that £600 per month is way too much. We spend around £300 per month, though it has to be said that the children have their tea at my mum's twice a week so that's 2 (small) meals less. I do the same as Donbean to keep the costs down.

i spend 60-70 a week. i now do shopping online, and just grab extras during the week (like milk, fresh bread and veg)
