Am gettin myself a bit down about debt, we have enough to pay payments every month but not if things go wrong - like car needs fixing etc. Just wondering wether to put it all on a massive loan over bout 7 years and save some of the loan in case stuff goes wrong - we owe bout 20k in visas, overdraft, loans x please be honest cos i feel like we are the only people in this situation

mummytopebs - i agree with a lot of what others are saying. You must be paying quite high rates of interest on your cards nd loans and also charges for your OD.

I volunteer for a charity that deals with debt and you are not alone. It is a huge issue in society and we have yet to see the full scale and impact of it.

If you can get a low cost loan please do consider cutting up all your credit cards and putting a really strict budget together. The Citizes Advice Bureau run programs to help people manage debt and budget. It may be worth seeing them but the waiting list can be fairly lengthy.

They have a useful section on debt on their website that is worth a look. CAB Debt

Don't take out loans in case of emergency - the interest you will pay on the loan will be greater than you can get in a bank ac, and it will just get you further into debt. martin's money tips is brilliant for all sorts of debt advice. here. sorry, if you've already been given similar advice, i haven't read the whole thread
