I am thinking of having a family celebration at a listed building . I have been told that the catering company can apply for a one day licence? have no idea how much this will be? Can anyone help?? Also how long do they take to be granted as only 5 weeks to go!!

What type of licence? I'm guessing alcohol licence? From thinking back they use to be a couple of years ago about £25 I think in Bucks. Shouldn't be very much you fill in a form and pay the money and the police authorise it. Normally they say yes as long as you aren't drinking all night and it won't cause them any problems.

this might help hopefully

Catering company would be able to get it done in a couple of weeks but allow 4 to be on the safe side.

we have applied for alcohol licence for school functions - not gone thro' company butu done it ourselves. pretty straightforward, just forms to fill in and about £25 to pay. we bought wine and beer from supermarket and charged double the cost, which was still cheaper than pub prices so everyone got a good deal.

just done one for a fundariser in Northants - it was £21 and they said to allow 2 working weeks but it arrived in 3 days! Contact your local District Council. I think its called an Entertainment Licence now.

make sure that you are actually allowed to serve alcohol in the venue first. It would be no good if you were granted a license but still not allowed to drink there!

ALso, they may have their own which means you may just need the named person to be on the premises
