just a thought reading a couple of other threads - can you claim childcare costs or something before tax? i am SAHM but dh works - we get child tax credits but not working tax (i don't think, think dh is above threshold).

dd2 goes to preschool but we will have to pay for it til sept, then govt funding kicks in.

can i claim anything anywhere?

ta in advance, pelase excuse total ignorance

You can do a salary sacrifice scheme wheer your employer gives you vouchers the value of which is not taxable in place of the equivalent salary.

Not all employers offer it though. Mine doesn't.

oh right. probably not worth it then.

thanks anyway

It is worth it! You don't pay tax or national insurance on the sacrificed amount, so effectively you get about 31% off, which isn't to be sniffed at IMHO.

Yes, as DaisyMoo says. Also known as "nursery vouchers." You do have to get your company to offer it but many do. He should check.

oh right, sorry, think i misunderstood the first time

i will make enquiries then, thank you!
