Is there a minimum amount of police officers who should attend a home visit?

I was under the impression that there had to be at least 2 officers to a home visit?

Is this correct?

Any help?

TIA

we had just one officer visit us at home for statements more than once

Thanks littleducks

I haven't done anything, this was a maliciousness by someone I know to try to intimidate me.

I haven't been charged with anything because I haven't done anything wrong so I can't be charged

I can't believe the police would get involved in a matter like this, so so trivial

I know the person who instigated it knows the police officer concerned and I'm wondering how official the visit was

(and sounding slightly paranoid too!)

we had two home visits recently due to a theft, one officer only each time

minimum is 1, we have had home visits(after witnessing several crimes where we used to live) most of the time it was 1 officer

no rules whatsoever about having to have two officers on home visits.
In the good old days, (many years ago when I was in the police force) we had lots of double crewed cars but unfortunately, due to cut backs it is now quite rare to have two officers out on patrol together.

If you are concerned about the legitimacy of the visit you should contact the station.

It would be really unusual to have 2 officers visit for something like that, usually only if one was a probationer (trainee) would 2 officers come.

If the officer that visited you knows the complainant personally/from outside work then they should't be dealing with the complaint - it would be a conflict of interest. Maybe they could take the statement, but it should then be handed over to someone else to investigate and speak to you.

You've not said what the complaint was, however most things will be logged officially on the computer, so there should be an offical record of the complaint, and the visit to you. The officer should also have recorded it in his pocket book.

If you suspect it wasn't above board then you need to contact the Duty Inspector of the station the officer comes from, and ask him/her to look into it for you.
