Ok, as a rough guide I am contracted to 20 hours per week (currently on maternity leave), £6,500 per year. Lone parent plus baby & toddler. According to the tax credits people I am entitled to £160 per week .

I have double checked it with them and they say I it's correct. I daren't spend it in case it's wrong and they ask for it back.

have anyone else recieved a lot of tax credits and no problems or having to pay it back?

24 hours at 7.50
That's 180 per week ...
Last time I worked was 16 hours per week full rent £100 per week
1 child 12 years old

Thanks I'm crap on th gov.uk website

I just wanna know if it's worth 24 or stick at 16 when I look for work again

Sorry, just seen your reply - will do it now Grin

Leanna, you'd do better going through it yourself, but based on one child the income you state, £100 rent (they ask if you're privately renting or whether it's a council house, but not sure whether the answer affects anything) you would be entitled to £175.84 per week.

If you worked 16 hours per week you'd be entitled to £184.02 per week, so it's worth your while working those extra hours.

This is the website I used if you want to double check it.

megletthesecond · 16/09/2017 19:42

Sounds about right if you're a lone parent with childcare expenses.

MyBrilliantDisguise · 16/09/2017 19:46

When I did it for Leanna I said there were no childcare expenses as her child is 12.
