for a new microwave if my new one goes "bang".
I'm renting privately. When I moved in an electrician came round because one of the sockets in the kitchen wasn't working (was apparently something to do with the fuse for that circuit in the fusebox as some of the other things that circuit controls weren't working either).
Anyhow, he "fixed" it, and off he went. I duly plugged my microwave in and used it that evening to warm DS3's milk up. The following morning DS1 opened the microwave door and it went "bang" - and died. I tried it in the other (working) sockets the other side of the kitchen and it was dead. It had tripped the fuse so I flicked it back on.
Now since then (nearly 2 weeks ago) I've not used the socket that the microwave had been plugged into. I have also bought a new microwave - which is plugged into the working socket at the otherside of the kitchen. Been in there about a week and no problems.
However, I want to move the microwave back over to where the "fixed" socket is.....however I'm worried that it's going to go "bang" and die on me.It could well be that it was just the microwave, wasn't that old (about 1 1/2-2yrs iirc) , but was a cheap(ish) one and we've had a history of short lived microwaves, in the old house, which was purely down to the machines - not the electrics - so could just be I've had back luck again.
If that happened (it went bang and died) , and it turns out that it's a dodgy socket who would be liable to replace my microwave??? It was the landlords electrician that came out to sort the socket that wasn't previously working.........
