Does it sound to you like this solicitor is up to something dodgy?

My mum finally sold her house 2 weeks ago. The buyer of her house (Mr A) is selling his house to Miss C.

Miss C is refusing to instruct a solcitor at the minute as she is tryig to negotiate a 2k discount as some complications were found on the survey. Mr A (my mum's buyer) is trying not to budge.

Today my mum's solicitor for the house sale said that he knows Miss C personally. He advised mum to tell Mr A to sort it out or that she (my mum) would put her house back on the open market.

Mum is furious and reckons there is a conflict of interest. That the solicitor wants mum to do that so Mr A panics and agrees to a 2k price reduction for Miss C who is the solicitor's friend.

Now I would never have thought of that and would just have thought that the solicitor is trying to get things moving. Mum's on abot reporting the solicitor. Am I totally missing something or is my mum over reacting?

Is it a conflict if he isn't getting involved and has declared knowing Miss C?

I would have said that this is text book advice. If Mr A is not proceedable, his buyer and he haven't agreed a price, then your mum may have to consider remarketing her property.

There is no conflict of interest if the solicitor is representing Miss C and your mum. This should speed things up.

There would be a conflict of interest if the solicitor was acting for Mr A and your mum or miss c
