Saving on heating costs

Mumsnetters, is it better to

a) leave the heating on 24/7 at a low temperature (say 13 Degrees) or
b) set it to come on twice a day for a few hours at full blast?

We used to do b) and have just started experimenting with a)
so in a few months we should know which one will cost us more.
Could anyone kindly tell me now please?

I think it depends on how full your house is and strange stuff like that. I have a feeling everyone thinks it's a) but it is, in fact, b)

why not ask at the live chat this afternoon

(fwiw I do a after a few years of experiments comparing amounts used it seemed to be cheaper to keep this big old drafy house at a comfortable temp with it on low all the time rather than full blast for severla hours.

As it gets cold again SO quickly it was having to be done at least 2/3 times a day!

But DaddyJ, if you do a), won't you have to do b) as well (ie turn it up a bit) because it's pretty miserable living at 13 degrees all the time?

DaddyJ · 12/01/2009 12:15

13 deg is surprisingly ok, littlefrog!
No need additional need for full blast
over the last few days.

FAQ - that's a good idea, that is!
Forgot about the interview - cheers for that!
