Wedgewood - we bought a partial dinner set on Friday

On Friday we treated ourselves at The Wedgewood Factory shop and bought part of a Wedegewood dinner set.

Even at half price it was expensive.

We are missing a few plates and then bigger things like a serving bowl, cups, saucers etc that we were going to save for.

I read today that it has gone in to administration.

I am panicking slightly because we have £250 worth or part of a dinner set (!) and only bought it 3 days ago.

Wedgewood say that they won't have the rest in stock but that they should in a fortnight, and the other bits we simply can't afford to buy right now.

Would it be sensible to return it whilst we can?

I wouldn't if you really like it as there are always loads on ebay and there is a missing china shop online (can't remember the web address) where you can track down different bits. If it's one of the popular ranges then there will be lots around.

I think it's hard to find nice china.

Its a Jasper Conran at Wedgewood range so not one of their classics, but apparently quite popular.

Just thought we could add bits to it over the years.

I feel that maybe I should panic buy the remaining items but my DH has been made redundant so money is tight.

They will continue to trade, and probably be sold (again) as a going concern. If they say a fortnight for the next batch of stock chances are the blanks (basic plate/bowl shapes common to many patterns) are already manufactured and just need to go through the final decoration/firing processes. Larger pieces are manufactured less often so may be less easily obtained. There are several china matching agencies, some advertise on ebay, and there may be stick of your pattern already in department stores around the country which you could contact(Debenhmas, House of Fraser, john Lewis etc).
