Does anyone know about budgetting loans???

Just been looking at the website about them and it would appear that I could get a budgetting loan to help with my moving costs (for those that don't know this house - not in my name in exH's - is being repossessed so I have to move - it hasn't actually been ordered yet so no paper work to "show" that is going to happen).

Will I need to show evidence that I have to move or anything?

JSA is my specialty, but know a bit about the loans stuffto. You need to be in receipt of JSA income based or Income Support for at least 26 weeks before the date of the application. Most BL are refused on the grounds that the applicant would not be able to afford to reply the loan. If you have any savings over £1k this will reduce any loan you may be entitled to. When yu apply you need to tick the category of laon you are aplying for but don't need to give specifics (sometimes help though)

Unlike some Goverment loans, budgeting loan decisions are based on legally binding rules rather than being discretionary. If you go to the library or serach for the law o the internet you will get more info - you want Section 140(1A) of the Social Security Cotributions and Benefits Act (a thriling read!!!). The Decision maker will have regard to:

factual criteria relating to your personal circumstance;
any resoruces which could be used to meet the need;
whether anyone else could wholly or partly meet the need;
the district budget - if they have no money left they can't lend you it;
Social Fund directives and local and national guidance; and #the likelihood of you repaying the loan.

Your aplication is also weigthed - (a lone parent has a higher weighting than a single person. Minimum amount is £100 and max is £1500 - no guarantee that you will get what you ask for though. The only way to know ofr definite is to apply once you know the costs involved.

Good luck

thanks - went and picked up a form this morning. Will get it filled in tonight and send it off - the worst that they can say is "no" - and I'll just have to wait longer to get the money together to move

I've already got a good idea of costs involved
