I haven't been given any shifts since end of November but kept phoning they said yes we are just sorting outsome problems we will contact you soon, today they ahvecalled meto say that due to financial reasons I will no longer be required to work for them as have others.

It's a job I hate I must admit but we cannot afford it and I know many others are in a similair situationmyheart goes out to everyone of them and I hope all gets better soon.

Anyway I have just realised and I am now bricking it becauseI haven't had shifts since Noemberand tax credits have been paying me £140 childtax, including childcare as we needed it as I normally had shifts but now... I amterrified they will askfor it all back but I genuinely didnt mean to 'scam' them I thought I would get shifts soon.Does anyone know what will happen will I have to pay it all back?

Also my rent didn't get paid last month and Im not sure itllget paid thismonth either,I am terrified what is going to happen to us.

Sorry for wittering am in panic mode.

You need to get yourself to the Citizens' Advice Bureau asap - I can't help with specifics (hope someone else can) and I'm really sorry - what a rubbish start to the year for you.

Sorry this has happened to you MamaDiva.

Dh was overpaid by tax credits and we just paid back a monthly amount. Phone them and explain exactly what has happened. It is not your fault.

Sorry don't know about the rent.

i'm so sorry mamadiva, i don't live in britain so have no real advice but just wanted to say i'm sorry. couldn't read and not post. particularly shitty time of year for this to happen.

i'm sure that someone will post soon with 'real' advice. best of luck. i have my fingers crossed for you.

bodiddly · 02/01/2009 15:52

What was your job?

MascaraOHara · 02/01/2009 15:55

Sorry to hear this mamadiva, what a rubbish start to the new year for you.

Tax credit will just take back a small amout each month but if I were you I'd just phone them and tell them as of today you are unemplyed, they will stop your money or reduce as apt..

in April or befor eyou will submit you earnings (they work in arrears) then if you have been over paid they will notify you and you will pay it back then.. no need to tell them anything for now.

you were employed up until today.

can't help with the rent though sorry.

mamadiva · 02/01/2009 16:07

No probs the rent will probbe fine I guess tax credits is my main thing in a way the rent will sort itself out, I know it will.

I was a Care Assistant in a High dependancy care home and worked on bank, I worked 3 nightsa week and DS went to nursery so I could get some sleep during day, but aot has been going on there so I hadnt had a shift for a whiloemainly down to DS being unwell alot and staff cut backs soo.... ARGH am really frustrated about it all.

MrsMerryHenry · 02/01/2009 16:11

Can you ask your previous employer to send a letter to the tax credits office confirming that your unemployment status starts today? That way you'll be in the clear.

MrsMerryHenry · 02/01/2009 16:12

Also huge hugs and sympathy...and welcome to the club. There is hope, I promise.
