Bloody cars

Thermostat hasnt been working properly in the car for a few weeks, DH took it to the garage today while i was out browsing the sales and they said there is a major prob with the head gasket and it will cost about £400. Everytime we get out of our overdraft something comes up - we have spent so much on this bloody car in the last year. Luckily i didn't buy anything in town! Just feel a bit pissed off that we were doing ok money wise for once and we went out for lunch with DDs yesterday and i wasn't for once thinking shit how much is this going to cost and can we afford it cos at the time we could. Now it is back to basics and scrimping again.

If your car has got to the point where it's regularly needing expensive repairs, now might be the time to scrap it and buy another. It's amazing what's available out there for under £1000, and even £500 will get you a reliable runabout.

I agree with oldlady, my brother and actually my sister have bought cheap cars recently, they both run well and as they both cost under £700, if they go wrong they scrap them.

What is an old car these days? It is an X reg skoda fabia and our old car had to be scrapped (scraped?)2 years ago and my grandad bought us this one from an investment thing he cashed in for £3500.
I have always bought cheap cars before though and they have been pretty good.
We've booked it in now anyway, just selfishly annoyed i think as i wanted to go shopping!!!
