I had done it-I have overspent (quite a bit) but could just manage, but then ended up paying for lunch for 6 yesterday (oww!) and forgot about my car insurance-I thought I had paid it up last month, and now it is a sqeeeeze until I get paid mid Jan. Anyone else done the same? I am so at myself.

This is me every month. The sparky's bill is going to have to come out of the sale of a body part, I suspect.

Why did you pay for lunch for 6?!

Pawslikepaddington · 22/12/2008 20:33

We have friends with two children (it is just me and dd) and we went out for lunch, and as they are much more financially buoyant than me they usually pay with a card and refuse to take any cash from me, but this time I only had plastic and so offered to pay as they always pay for us and they said ok, but we weren't even expecting to go to lunch with them. Wish I hadn't just had a (cheap) main now-everyone else (including dc's) had three courses! Am so glad other people get it wrong-everyone else always seems to manage!

Yup, bloody service charge got me - we coped with MOT and new boiler, and forgot about the stupid buildings insurance/service charge... argh

UnfortunatelyMe · 22/12/2008 20:51

Hmm yes, £200 cash in my hand and a £1000 credit card bill, minus £110 in the bank...somewhere the sums just ARE NOT adding up.

Pawslikepaddington · 22/12/2008 20:54

I'm a bit more minus than that! . Am just hoping the overdraft holds out until the mortgage goes out, and if not off to the pawnbrokers I trot (dare not risk not paying mortgage!)

Yeah, I spent a fortune on stuff last week for the school fayre and then ended up not claiming it back because I thought that would be mean. I've got tax bill and housing insurance in January...

Pawslikepaddington · 22/12/2008 20:56

Lala, I can't claim anything I'm owed until Jan, so will be slightly healthier then, but need it NOW! You won't look mean if you need it x

P.S. What did you get?

Loads of craft stuff for a couple of stalls - profits were so squeezed I didn't have heart to claim back costs. I'll muddle through - just want to get Jan out of the way.

Pawslikepaddington · 23/12/2008 09:41

I know-why does the money seem to come late Jan/early Feb? You poor thing-at least you can hold your head up high at every school event now knowing you have contributed more than most mums will ever do! We're all still alive though so must have muddled through every previous year some how!
