When I registered with Nationwide as a teenager over ten years ago I was living at my parents house so that is the phone number for me that they have (even though they have my current address and I get statements regularly). My Dad told me Nationwide (automated voice) had phoned 3 times for me today but they had hung up in case it was a hoax. I rang the number on my card this evening and they said it would of been Nationwide collections department and to phone them tomorrow. I have a £600 overdraft with them (have done for the last few years) but am in no way able to pay it back yet as our youngest child is 5m, the others 2 and 4. Do you think they were ringing to ask for their money back? Im really scared!

Have you been putting regular payments into the account? All o/draft facilities are granted on the basis that regular money is going in to the account.

Yes, our working tax credit of £250 is oaid in every month. All other income is paid into another account.

well that is odd then because that's quite a significant payment into the account each month. You haven't gone over the limit and not noticed have you - or was it up for review? I think they review them every year as a matter of course?

I have well over a thousand go in to my account, I got a letter two months ago, stating that my overdraft was being cancelled by the end of the month and it needed paying in full! luckily it was only £200.00, but it was a tight squeeze that month.

Banks and their charges are scary. Rang t morning and a bolshy lady told me my overdraft had been reduced frm 600 to 450 since October and I was meant to have had a letter about it but didnt! She wanted me to pay £60 a mnth until it was paid off completely. After discussing with dh we knew that would be too difficult so I rang back to negotiate. The 2nd lady was much more helpful, said I could pay back £40 a mnth til paid off and get the recent tax credits out, phew!
