when I put in my single parents claim they investigated it! I had to provide proof that all bills were in my name, the mortgage was in my name, I had to provide 3 months worth of bank statements and childcare bills - it was a nightmare. Phone again, keep chasing, I always seemed to get nice people, and the woman that handled the investigation was very nice - even when they said no, in their opinion even tho everything was in my name, because he still officially "lived" in the house, that we were trying to sell, I couldnt have any money!

Eventually sorted out and they back paid, but in did take a while I am afraid - goodluck

Just keep calling, be polite but firm. Ask for an update each day. Ask why it is taking so long. Look online for advice about how long it should take and once you are near that time start asking why it is taking longer than the published turn-around time.

They do deal with it quicker if you bother then, but don't get cross as they will spit on it and loose it down the back of a radiator [half joking]

My change of circs once took 8 months as the update caused it to "fall off the system" I had no money at all and it was my major income at that time. I resorted to calling in at the local offices (both of them) every day, with kids in tow. It did work in the end.

Yes, you will. Once it comes through it will be there in a rush which is great. Next time youcall check it is set to go straight into your bank as that speeds things up too.

He is probably having a horrible time, this time of year people are desperate for their money quick so I would guess by 9am he will already have had at least a dozen rude or exasperated phonecalls complete with terrible story of hardship that he can do little about.

If you are getting back with an ex do you think there is a chance they are checking to see if you had lied and been together all along? (ie claim he left to get extra cash then changed your claim when money got better/you thought someone was reporting you) I am quite sure people do do this kind of thing so they may well check as a matter of course.

GOD I WAS WORRIED ABOUT THAT RIGHT ENOUGH BECAUSE MY EX PAID FOR THE HOUSE WE RENTED AS I COULDNT AFFORD IT

AND HE WAS STILL GETTING POST TO HERE AS HE STAYED WITH AN AUNT.

TBH WE GOT BACK BECAUSE R DAUGHTER HAS SPECIAL NEEDS AND NEEDS A LOT OF ATTENTION AND IT WAS GETTING DIFFICULT ON MY OWN

HE DID SUMTHING I CAN NOT FORGIVE STILL HOWEVER IT IS EARLY DAYS. AND I HAVE TO GIVE IT A GO FOR THE CHILDREN.

THIS IS WHAT ANNOYS ME BUT YOU BE STRAIGHT WITH THEM AND BCUS OF OTHERS DOING FRAUD EVERYONE IS SUSPICIOUS.

Where was he registered on the electoral roll as this will probably be the first place they look. If he was paying the rent did you declare that as income for the means testing?

It is not easy but I expect they will jump on you if they think you have done anything wrong. They will probably get you into a local office for an interview. If you have been upfront with them then it will be no big deal, just confirmation of details so I wouldn't worry too much!

hunnybun1981 · 03/12/2008 11:16

i am not sure if he was on the electoral roll at all tbh

and i never got around to filling in my own electoral roll so he was certainly not on the one here.

i think he changed his bank statments to his aunts address and sum other stuff, it was amicable bcus of the children

yeh i told them that he paid the rent but i work as well they said it didnt matter who paid the rent it went on my income only as a single parent.

no i am not worrying i av plenty of medical stuff that can back up what i went through anyway.

a lot of people have said is it worth all the hassle i tell you sometimes i think what is th point they under pay u then they over pay u they avent a clue at all.

but sure i will wait and see

thanks for advice
