I have just been doing our expenses. I had thought we were quite generous but it is only 2.2% of our take home pay.

Erm 50p in a collection tin every now and again?!

Not a lot

It is just that throwing a whole lot of money at a well meaning organisation doesn't necessarily mean that those in need get the help ... and if the adverts are mawkish (NSPCC take note) they have no chance !!

Pinkjennybellrock · 28/11/2008 15:04

£10 a month.

artichokes · 28/11/2008 15:11

£20 a month to the hospice where my Mum passed away.
£10 a month to Cancer Research.
£10 a month to Macmillan Nurses.
£20 a month to Oxfam.

Grammaticus · 28/11/2008 15:12

£10 a month to action aid

jinglemamadivasbells · 28/11/2008 15:21

£2 a month to Amnesty

But I also work in a British Heart Foundation shop so I give about 10 hours a month to them

We dont have much money though so time is about all I can afford.

I GIVE LIKE 4 PD A MONTH BUT MY WORK TREBLE IT SO NSPCC GET £ 12 A MONTH FROM ME

I THINK SOMETIMES CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME AND NO MATTER HOW SMALL AN AMOUNT YOU CAN GIVE , GO AHEAD AND GIVE IT ITS BETTER PUTTING A QUID IN A MONTH THAN NOTHING.

You can also give time - charities are generally desperate for volunteers, whether to act as trustees to run the business side or to actually get involved in their activities. Is very rewarding and very direct way of contributing.

As a percentage, I'm not sure.

Prob embarassingly small. I give monthly donations to 2 relevant to me charities and lump sums to DEC things when I can.

Feeltrapped · 29/11/2008 21:59

£18 month to World Vision
£16 month to NSPCC
£10 month to Cancer research
£5 month to Great Ormand Street
£8 month to Breast cancer

Occassional random donations

Strangely enough comes to about 2.2% of my net pay too - doesn't seem much when you put it like that!

never added it up before in fact not even sure how much each one is
I do direct debits to 4 o 5 charities plus do some voluntary work when I've got the time. I don't know, maybe it works out at about £50 a month. it should be more.
I need to check out if my employers donate as well - good idea!
my charities of choice (am interested in other peoples choices)
red cross, everychild, nct, abm, a small charity that helps women with fistulas in Africa (bit vague on details)
keep meaning to reactivate barnados direct debit as well
