Can the back take my overdraft away? I keep hearing stories about overdrafts disappearing overnight, and I can repay it and be £2k in the black on the 20th Jan, but we are stuck until then. I am petrified. What do you think?

Paws...when is your overdraft up for discussion?? It should say on one of your statements, they are hardly likely to do anything til then.

Mine did threaten to take mine away when it was up for renewal however after a quick chat on the phone with my local branch manager this was quickly u turned ....so dont panic even if you get a general letter about it from their "head office" because providing you have given them no cause for concern in the past ( you say yo have been a good customer) then they would be mad to decline you an overdraft. Always deal with stuff like that at local branch level as they are far more flexible and customer orientated.

at foam shrimps...they are my fave!!!

my bank (halifax) took away my huge over draft (that i never used) with no warning a few months ago (the same day they were on the news before lloyds tsb nought them out)

i was really cross... went to bank and told them that my circumstances hadnt changed but theirs had.... and they gave me back my OD without a problem

so even if they do take it away, they should give it back, like mine did, esp if you tell them you will move your account else where cause that would be tha last thing they would want right now!

Have you heard of www.wonga.com I think they lend you money for 30 days (you need to pay it back within that time frame otherwise the interest is very high) - I think it's just to get people through until next pay day.

Otherwise a www.babeecard.com will get you money off your groceries and petrol each month.

Banks can't just take your overdraft away without informing you first - they could lessen it but again they need to inform you in writing.

Hope his helps.
