Is it

Please remit by BACS - then my details?

TIA

Yes, give them your BACS details.

Yes, you need to put which bank it is eg Nat West, sort code, account number and the name the account is in. Also helpful to put your email address for electronic remittance advices. I work in accounts payable.

Don't understand why every business doesn't do this in this day and age.

KatyMac · 21/11/2008 22:14

Cool, Thanks

Account name
Sort code
Account number
Bank address

I'm sorted (sending by email anyway)

Should I put something about prompt payment appreciated? (it's county council so I guess I should just be grateful they are going to pay sometime)

Yes, state terms and if you don't get paid by then you can chase it up. Most businesses will do a payment run, month end following date of invoice, i.e Pay October dated at the end of November but will make earlier payments for smaller businesses.

KatyMac · 21/11/2008 22:24

So is
'I would appreciate payment within 30 days' OK

or would
'prompt payment would be appreciated' be nicer?

Can you tell I am a wuss - I don't normally do work without being paid upfront - so it's a bit odd to me

Just 'payment within 30 days', or even 7 days.

KatyMac · 21/11/2008 22:29

Is 7 days a bit cheeky?

(see Wussness rearing it's head again)

Depends, if you are a small business and its just a drop in the ocean to them they may take notice. Up to you if you want to wait for their normal terms. Worth a try. I've just paid an invoice today dated today for labour.

bettythebuilder · 21/11/2008 22:32

you can say seven days, but in my experience if it's a council it will take 'em 30 days anyway

Pinkyminkee · 21/11/2008 22:33

yes payment by BACS.

I used to always put 28 days. But one place I worked for told me to put 14 days as it meant I'd actually get paid withtin a month!

KatyMac · 21/11/2008 22:36

I know I will compromise on 14 days - that seems reasonable
