4 bed house, 2 adults 1 baby. General household usage - haven't had the heating on since March. Eon have just put up my DD to 236 squid a month, from £195. My account shows I am £299 in credit with them. Why are they putting my payments up? AARGH.

Does this seem normal or should I ask them to investigate the power consumption (it's not like we have the tumble drier on all the time or anything) maybe there is a fault with the account or the meter?

i got npower saying they were increasing our dd from £60 dual fuel a month to £120 a month!!! 3 bed new build (so efficient allegedly) semi. 2 adults 1 toddler. me at home all day.

rang them up. chap took one look at our account, in credit by £150 and said no we'll just increase it to £73 to allow for increase in fuel charges.

how on earth you're all paying such mammoth bills i do not know.

Nervousal we are also in a 4 bed detached. How the hell can we be paying soooo much compared to you??

We do have 4 dc and i am at home a lot during the day (i am a CM)but even so.....

I think you need to compare actual usage rather than bills - price plans vary so widely?

We have just gone up to £200 per month (gas and elec) with Scottish Power. I can't understand why it's so much - we are both out at work all day as is DS1, DS2 is at school. We have a modern boiler, cavity wall insulation, everything lagged and insultated to within an inch of its life and we are "careful" in that lights are switched off if we're not in the room, the tv doesn't stay on standby, etc.

We have a 4 bed, two reception 70's house.

pur bills are huge, bigger than that. am wondering if switching to pre pay meters would be better.. £145 for gas and £125 for leccy. it is just ridicolous

duckyfuzz · 29/09/2008 14:40

we pay £91 a month DD for dual fuel, we went onto a fixed rate in June to avoid the price rises. We are in credit by about £100 but will use that up through the winter. We are in the frozen NE in a N facing 4 bed detached house, but all out from 8.30 to 3.30 weekdays so that helps

EON tried to take nearly £800 from my bank account - I didn't have the money in there thankfully. To me this is attempted theft!! This was apparently for 6 weeks of electric and gas during the mildest spring we have ever had. They have now reduced this to £200 at the end of Sept, which I am still contesting. And they are now threating me with court action and baliffs. They are heavy handed, difficult to deal with, rude and quite frankly I have got to the point where I want to see them in court!! BRING IT ON EON.

NB tiny two bedroomed terrace, with double glazing, and economy central heating!!

Our dual fuel bill has just increased to £63 a month, 3 bed house, semi detached. We are currently in credit and our meters are read regularly.

I'm amazed at the size of some of these bills TBH.
