If this is rent from a lodger in your own home, and it is exempt from tax under the Rent a Room scheme, then it is not taken into account for tax credits. Company cars are taken into account for tax credits and tax.

The rent a room scheme is I think the first 60/65 or so is not taxed/included in your income, something like that, anything over that amount you would need to declare even if it were 10 pound a week. Otherwise they will have overpaid you and will take it back.

The rent a room limit is £4,250 per year.
