it means they don't understand English for a start. Don't trust your financial affairs to people that can't ensure communication is understandable

(I assume it means you have been provisionally accepted subject to provision of financial records such as wage slips and bank details)

it means run a mile!! i would not deal with a company who could not communicate with me adequately. who is this company and how did you find them?

pinkyp · 07/07/2008 21:19

it is a fundinf company set up by the government to help people who cannot afford to get on the mortage ladder. I found them through a mortgage avdisor.

I'd be extremely careful about this.

OK there is a government HomeBuy scheme, but now doesn't seem the right time to be entering the housing market to me .. I would recommend you wait a year or so to see how the market stabilises. Pundits say it's going down so prices in your area may well go 20 - 30% lower than they are at present.

Can you stay in rental at the moment?

I'd be careful because this private company is not part of the Government .. it is a commercial company working as an agent for the HomeBuy scheme .. from what I can see on an initial scan-reading

ok company is legit here

still not sure that NOW is the right time to be going into ownership

Saw an article yesterday suggesting that the part ownerhsip schemes are likely to be problematic short term, and indeed some in London are already worth less than the % share owned. Read the small print carefully because the company's investment is likely to be more protected. Also if interest rates rise further can you still afford to pay ?

Well i'm having a bad time with the landlord where i live, house is falling apart (almost) and we always said next time we will buy. I hate renting now, lived in 2 houses where agents/landlord didnt give a c**p. I was thinking if we got funding from this scheme to find a house and offer a fairbit below the asking price.

I'd continue to rent for the next year .. sorry .. I know it's shit .. can you find another rental that's a bit better?

pinkyp · 07/07/2008 21:46

yeh i just dont want to pay all the fees again and the bond etc, i know we'll have fees to pay when we buy. I really want to buy! boo hoo! The lady from the estate agents told me the government scheme was new and when the moneys gone, its gone! So that worrys me too as without it we'd have to get a run-down house (we dont have the funds to do it up) i'd like some where that we can move in and it be nice!
