Is now a really bad time to cash in an endowment?

Don't need it for the mortgage anymore and need a new kitchen.

Not sure how we'd pay for the kitchen without it, but wondering what impact the credit crunch will have on it.

how long into your endowment are you?

How much have you actually paid in v how much are you being quoted for surrender or ssale - ge t a few quotes.

I think that you do loose out i fyou cash them in at any time. We are keeping ours going until it matures, so we get teh terminal bonus etc, unless the credit crunch makes it difficult for us to pay into it.

Don't know how the credit crunch affects its value though,

Had it 10 years and when we got quotes last year, we'd get back just over what we've paid in. Not much more to be honest.

It doesn't mature for another 15 years though. The alternative is to get a loan for the kitchen...

Do you know what type of policy it is?

If it is 'with-profits' or 'with-profits whole life', then you may get more if you sell it rather than cash it in.

It's with profits.

"Sell" not "cash in". Must get terminology right.
