Buying wine in France - cheaper in Euros or Sterling?

On daytrips to France we're offered the chance to pay in Euros or Sterling... which should we do, financially-speaking? (we'd be paying by credit card).

First thing to do is check if your card charges you for paying abroad, and if that charge will be affected if you pay in euros or sterling. I can't imagine it will, but worth checking.

Also check the exchange rate on the day you go, and write down a couple of key values on a scrap of paper (e.g. 10 Euros = £7.70 or whatever). That way, when you get there you can check whether the stuff is cheaper in Euros or pounds and pick the best one for you.

Try www.xe.com for 'real' exchange rates.

Martin Lewis says never ever ever choose to pay in your own currency - always costs more than the local currency. There is a long explanation on the moneysavingexpert.com website......
