Debts rollup!

Anyone want to share debt progress?

I've paid off the loan on my car with a lump sum, I maybe only saved about £600 interest but not to be sniffed at, and I'm free of that loan! It weirdly doesn't feel as good as I thought it would...paying off a loan...so I'm trying to gee up some enthusiasm for my achievement.

I've also paid off a store card, just got one more to pay off for a laptop.

I then either need to build up a buffer pot or pay off a 0% credit card. Can't decide which.

And I got a new job.

Firstly well done paying off debt it's hard work Small emergency buffer fund say £1_2000 pay off debt then build bigger buffer 3-6 months of expenses

£600 saved off interest sounds rather a lot to me !

you seem to be doing really well but paying debt I guess is kind of like housework - no real benefit, no one ever goes “wow what a great day I cleaned my house “ it just drags you down it it needs doing

it it is great

congratulations on the new job

agree with PP - a small buffer seems a plan next

or perhaps a small buffer and a small treat pot / towards a holiday or haircut or whatever you like - paying the debt off allows you to save for something great which might feel better!

Thanks! Forgot to say I've got a 1k emergency fund. I've treated myself to a styling session and highlights. Which I should appreciate being able to afford!

I think you're right about the 3 - 6 month buffer. Who knows the job might not work out.

Well done on paying off your loan! We paid off a small loan in March that was taken out to buy a new car when ours died a death. Managed to pay it 2 years early due to overtime and extreme budgeting

When I made that last payment I did a little trumpet 🎺 sound in my head 😁 hoping to be completely debt free by April 2027, and then on to savings the 3-6 month emergency fund and then maybe saving for a cheap holiday somewhere because holidays are not something we do and we deserve it!
