Are Manchester Airport lounges worth £177 for a family flight?

Anyone's thoughts on the lounges at Manchester Airport, is it worth it? Due to fly out soon with DP DS16 DD4. it would cost £177 get there 3 hours before our flight which is in the morning.

Does anyone know where I could maybe look at getting a discount code? thanks

Never worth it in my opinion (unless free, then it’s ok) Just arrive 2 hours before your flight, and if you have time to kill go in a restaurant for a fraction of the price

GHOSTTHINKER · 16/06/2026 13:44

Personally I think they are worth it. But it also depends on how much you will all eat and ultimately drink. However, the calm space to just relax is a game changer for me it always feels much more relaxed certainly travelling at busy times as you can often struggle for a table in the other restaurant's/bars at Manchester. For a family of 4 at Manchester airport you would be looking at around the same price for you all to eat and drink in a restaurant anyway. Maybe view the menu's at the lounge and other restaurants and make your mind up from there.

No - are you really going to spend £45 quid each including on a 4 year old for a snack in the airport?

I can’t imagine stuffing the 4 yr old before a flight and also downing several cocktails myself!

Wenttoaweddingonamonday · 16/06/2026 14:02

It’s less than a tenner for a juice or coffee and breakfast pastries in the restaurant at terminal 2. The full English is £14.

So no, it’s not worth it

Bromptotoo · 16/06/2026 14:08

Absent additional factors like health conditions affecting capacity to cope along with the rest of us no.

Toomuchleopard · 16/06/2026 14:24

Depends on the terminal. Terminal 2 has loads of restaurants so I would go there over a lounge. Terminal 3 is absolutely awful at the moment and not much is open so a lounge there is probably worth it. It’s only Ryanair going from T3 at the moment

SideboobToYouToo · 16/06/2026 14:42

Absolutely not.

Tubbyinthehottub · 16/06/2026 14:52

I like the lounges just to sit somewhere less chaotic. Also, I am a really thirsty person so I fill up on liquids before the flight. And snacks, obviously to get my money's worth.

TerfOnATrain · 16/06/2026 15:00

I have stayed in a few and like a previous poster said, they are absolutely not worth it unless free. The food is rubbish and the drinks poor quality, like a budget all inclusive. The only slight benefit is you are guaranteed a seat and wifi, but to be honest, I prefer going to one of the restaurants and taking my time.

I have managed to get discount taking it to £141, worth it?

Only worth if it completely free if you ask me. What do you actually want it for?

It depends. You could certainly spend that amount, or more on a meal each and juice, coffee etc in one of the other airport restaurants but I don't know if the food provided in a lounge is equivalent, it might be more snacky rather than an actual meal.

But will you want a full meal in the morning? If its very early I usually spend £6 on a Boots meal deal and eat it on the flight.

Plus there's different standards of lounge. I went in a lounge at Manchester a few years ago before an evening flight it cost just over £20 which was worth it to be as the food was fairly decent (like a good quality buffet, which did me for dinner) and I got a couple of alcoholic drinks.

However I also went in one at Leeds free with my Amex card and it got me a coffee, bacon sandwich and a pastry. I could have bought similar in the airport Greggs for about £7/8.

Dunkerquetodover · 17/06/2026 06:31

No! Food is usually awful.

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 17/06/2026 06:40

I can’t justify the cost as much as I love a lounge. You’ve got to eat and drink an awful lot in a short time to get your money’s worth.

tomato22 · 17/06/2026 06:47

No way. We get access through my husband's job and I'd genuinely rather pay money in the airport bar/restaurant and sit there. I have never liked the atmosphere in the lounges. Definitely would not consider paying for it - the food and drink isn't really worth it.

AgnesMcDoo · 17/06/2026 07:05

Would you spend £177 eating in Wetherspoons or wherever if you didn’t go to the lounge?

We always go to lounges but both DH and U have Dragon passes with our bank accounts so we are free and we just need to pay for the kids so cost wise it’s worth or while. But if we all had to pay I’m not sure it would be worth it.

1989STAR · 17/06/2026 07:07

Which lounge? The 1903 lounge is lovely good food and help yourself to drinks etc. The other ones like Escape is average.

InveterateWineDrinker · 17/06/2026 10:27

There was a time, this decade, when lounge access at Manchester T2 was less than £20 per person, and we used to use it all the time. Last time we flew as a family I was quoted over £200 for two adults and two kids and we declined because it's now a fucking rip off.

uggmum · 17/06/2026 10:29

I went to the Manchester lounge and what I would say is that not all Lounges are equal.
I thought it was awful, over crowded, poor food and people helping themselves to pints of baileys.
I would give it a miss and save your money

Teddleshon1 · 17/06/2026 10:36

What a waste of money

I think it all went wrong with T2 when it was refurbished and it reopened to coincide with opening up after COVID. I think it was our first abroad holiday after then when we flew from there and it took us about 2 hours from arriving at the terminal to drop off luggage and get through security then we had meal in one of the restaurants, which was ridiculously priced even by airport standards and this was before inflation took off. And they had so little available I was down to about my 4th choice so paid loads for something I didn't really enjoy but wanted a decent meal before a longish flight. With hindsight I'd rather we'd gone to Burger King instead and they're my 'I'll eat it under sufference if there really is nothing else' option.

I agree that the old lounge where you paid £20 for a nice buffet and drinks in reasonably calm surroundings was quite nice, but I wouldn't pay much more than that.
