Hi, I’m having trouble doing the maths. The AET is £991 per month.
if I earn 1386 what would UC take at a rate of 55p in a pound please?
youre allowed 427 wages untouched so the 55 comes after that.
Thanks

Deduction would be £527.45

Thankyou, that’s actually what I worked it out as! I’m surprised, I thought I’d got that wrong. Thank you

The AET is nothing to do with how much is deducted, so forget that number for a start!

Just take the work allowance (£427) off the total (£1386) - then you've got the amount that's taken into account when deductions are worked out (£959).

£959 x 0.55 = £527.45 - so that's how much will be deducted from your award if you earn £1386.
