hi everyone I fled to a women’s refuge with my 3 children in march I have been offered a house and I will be moving into it in July luckily I still have my tenancy at my old council house so I plan to pay for removals to pick up all my stuff and move it to my new home I’m really excited but got a quote from Anyvan and it’s going to cost about £2000 which is going to be nearly impossible to save for, I’m on uv credit. Does anyone please please know of any grants that are available to help with fleeing costs I have search the internet but can’t find any, women’s aid used to do a 2,500 pound grant but stopped it now please help I’d really appreciate it! X

Have you ever served in the armed forces? Regular or reserve? Even for one day? The British Legion helped me in a similar circumstance.

Also I used anyvan and I hate to say it but they were terrible. Is there a small independent removals near you?

Obviously you need to speak to someone at your local council about grants!

how have you still held a tenancy for 3 months on an empty house?
is your OH still living there ?
for effectively homeless, councils have a fund for basic white goods and furniture
if yours has been spoiled or wrecked you may qualify anyway
will your children have forgotten their toys now

Anyvan is not a removal company! but a Dutch auction site; you could get any
jokers, ‘insured up to 10,000£’
A better one is Shiply although you will have to list everything yourself including measurements, read the reviews.

Local online sites, Facebook, notice boards have man and van ads, ask around.

after dv and being in a shelter, moving furniture and effects to a new place could
be laying a trail

£2000 is a huge amount of money! are you moving from Kent to Cornwall with Pickfords?

I’m finding it hard to believe any charity or Aid Group would pay out 2,500£ for
removals - public donations to said charity would soon dry up if this was true

if you need to move asap what is the point of saving now anyway
apply for a Budgetting loan online - be realistic - good luck

@ourSusieyeah uv credit is paying dual housing benefit so they will continue to pay for it for up to a year, no it’s a tendency only in my name it’s not been wrecked but it’s my stuff and I value my things so it would be a shame to leave it all just for the council to chuck it in the tip it’s quite strange that you say Kent to Cornwall because I actually am moving from Cornwall to Kent lol…I have heard some bad reviews about any van so was quite skeptical tbh and I’m not expecting any charity to cover the whole cost of moving my asking if there’s small grants even if they are like £200 it would still help me save for it

I must be psychic (or something)
yes of course you must have help
I just read your previous thread, it seems
awful you have to move cross country like this
when Cornwall is so lovely and you could have
been better accommodated.?!
but many of us here know what its like, being stalked
where in Kent are you moving

don’t touch Anyvan for many reasons
have a plain white van no markings
don’t tell anyone where you are moving
speak to your H.O. asap about grants

Try turn to us to search for charities that might be able to help. Also your local council crisis and resilience fund might be able to help. Citizens advice should be able to help you. What I’m not sure is whether you look where you are living now or where you are going to. I would explore both. I agree with trying for a cheap removal firm unless you’re able to hire a van and drive yourself- not easy I agree! But I would trust local man with a van over the any van . Good luck
