Water bills in general, Southern water in particular

We have a water meter.
We bought a new build house in 1998, it had a meter, it's all we have ever known.
Anyway, we get a water bill every six months, April and October.
The bill has just arrived and it is for £454 for 6 months, seemingly we used 61m3 of water between October and April, I don't know if that's a lot or not.
Checking back to Last April, we also used 61m3 but the bill was £316, the year before (59m but very similar usage) it was £268
So it's up over 40% from last year which was up 20% on the year before
Have everyone's bills gone up this much ?

You just need to check the standing charge and cubic metre prices for fresh/waste to see the change.

I may be sceptical but southern water have paid out huge amounts in compensation this last year or 2 so that will need to be recouped somewhere …
im also with southern water , havent had aprils bill yet so will look forward to that 🤦🏼‍♀️
