PREMIUM BONDS MAY/JUNE 2026

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/04/2026 13:19

PB have been about since 1957
Been 30yrs (April 2024) since a million was then the highest prize

Each bond is £1. You have to buy in minimum of £25 so means 25 chances to win every purchase - years ago you could buy £1 at a time.

Odds of winning £1 million on Premium Bonds at face value with £25 bonds are

1 in 2,737,857,636 - but 2 people have to win it every month so ……

To win anything odds are 1 in 23000

So providing you have more than £100 you have better odds winning something from pb than winning the lottery 😄

And obviously far better than the lottery - you don’t lose your stake !!!!!!

https://www.saga.co.uk/money-news/premium-bonds

Bonds have to be in for a clear month before going into the draw

If you want to cash bonds in then usually takes 3 days to go into your account

Winnings can be reinvested if holdings are under £50k

This means they will go into the next months draw without losing a month

Or sent to named bank account if winnings take over FH /want winnings in bank account
More info here

www.moneyhelper.org.uk/en/savings/types-of-savings/premium-bonds

The best time to buy premium bonds is on the last day of the month, as this means they are only held by NSI for one month and one day, without being entered into the prize draw.

PB to me is the fun and thrill each month of what if I win big and a millionaire - to then hoping win thousands to a day or two later being grateful if win £25😂

I have nowhere near the maximum and probably never will unless I win £50k + on pb

But only takes one £1 to win that million !!! Or in fact any prize

I love seeing the low holdings win high amounts

We've seen over the years £100 holding win a million (March 25) also a £100 holding win £100k and £50 win £25k and even £1 won £10k

Maximum is £50k per person so some do have all for family- mum dad and 2 kids so £200k etx

Those on the thread are varying from few hundred /few thousand - to 20/30k to full holdings of £50k

Everyone is welcome to join in whether small or full holdings

Obviously some people have better 'luck' than others and some worse - Ie full holdings and not winning anything a month or two or even longer

PB odds calculator below

https://pbprizes.com/calculator/

shows the interest rate of the winnings - obv anything over 3.30% is good as if in an account you wouid be taxed so be more like 3%

In August 2023, we had the highest 4.65% But it has been steadily falling since, and of April 2026 it’s 3.3 %

The consistent winners are the 1.16 million people who have the maximum £50,000.

They hold almost half of all premium bonds and, at current odds of 1/2300 can expect a monthly stream of tax-free prizes: two a month and three almost every other month, 28 or 29 a year totaling £1650 (3.3% interest on £50k)

So the median average will always be lower than the mean average.

This means that, with average luck, most people will win less than the prize rate each year, regardless of how many bonds they hold

To work out your own personal % rate
Winnings divided by amount have x 100

But many on here do have £50k and then consider moving it to an account that pays 4% if their bonds aren't doing very well as would then def get extra money

But remember savings /interest get taxed

PB and their winnings don't

So anything over 3% in winnings is considered good.

People dither whether to pull out from pb and put in high interest account if not winning anything so that they will def earn x amount of interest

But then lose the what if won a million or £100k

If you have PB but not sure if you have ever won esp if moved about a lot

you can write to NS&I

There are 2 apps afaik
Cream - prize checker and if won previous month will show a pic - which we all get excited over 😂😂😂

Blue - the app its self works but the showing early often doesn't work for me but those who reinvest their winnings say it shows if won the day before app shows 🙀🙀🙀

Seems the higher the winnings the earlier it shows and can be from 6pm the night before the app shows

And to confuse things I have a White app that is a bookmark - which shows info/list 😄😄😄

Now this has been debated on MANY times but seems to be correct

When do we find out if going to get a visit from AM 😂

The two winners of the £1million prizes will be contacted by Agent Million (AM) 😂😂 the day before the first working day of the corresponding month.

There may however be exceptions to this, such as when the first working day of the month is a bank holiday, for example.

So
AM - Day before first working day - Millionaire knock /call

LIST - First day of working month showing all winners million to £1k winners - which I always put up for those who can't find it

APP - Day after first working day , including weekends - cream app showing all winnings

You can also check to see if have won via this link with your holders number

www.nsandi.com/prize-checker

Hopefully I've covered everything
Good luck one and all 😄

Checking in, I'm here for the big one. WFH and expecting a UPS delivery as well as AM today, I hope they don't both turn up at the same time.

Spottyvases · 30/04/2026 06:01

Hello all fellow hopefuls 😃

@Carandache18 raspberry buns sound nice - what are they and should I make some?

@MintBiscuit65 - I was actually having the same debate in my mind - ie if I won a million I wouldn't tell anyone (apart from this group) but not sure how I would explain all the travel I would be doing then....

Good luck all 🍀🍀🍀

EightSteps · 30/04/2026 06:13

Hello again,
I'll be out all day so AW will have to come back tomorrow. And there won't be any cakes as I'm on a diet and can't trust myself not to eat them all!

Good luck to us allq

Jins · 30/04/2026 08:37

I’d never admit to winning the million. It would be described as a good month on my premium bonds and everyone would assume 10k which would cover a bit of extra travel. Years ago a colleague of DHs won over 2 million on the lottery and the way people swarmed round her was disgusting.

I won’t be around much today so unless AM turns up in the next hour he’s going to struggle to find me.

I think I would be the same

but as im never likely win a million guess i dont have to worry about it

Dear Spottyvases
Raspberry buns are nice and I can give you the recipe if you like, but no, I don't think you should make them. If AM has raspberry buns at my house, then maybe something else at yours? Being offered them by both £1,000,000 winners on the same day might make him suspect a conspiracy.
What about something savoury? A sausage roll? Welsh rarebit?
Yours, in hopefulness, C

MintBiscuit65 · 30/04/2026 10:26

@Spottyvases yeah, I’m not sure how I could explain the cabin or all the goats. Need to think that one through…!

CanISeeYourLicence · 30/04/2026 10:46

I would only tell DH (and the thread).

I'm home all day today. DS got sent home from school due to exam related stress / anxiety and meltdowns so i am primed, ready and waiting and I am sure a nice £million win will cheer him up too.

I have a mini-bottle of prosecco which I am prepared to donate to AM.

Carandache18 · 30/04/2026 11:07

MintBiscuit65 · 30/04/2026 10:26

Perhaps you could just say, 'This mad woman won a million pounds and bought all these goats and this cabin and now here I am, taking care of them, and we never see her anymore because she's off spending the rest on wild holidays..'

Heylittlesongbird · 30/04/2026 11:13

I wouldn’t tell anyone apart from DH.
Even here on a public forum I’d be nervous about direct messages from scammers.
I would just let everyone think our public sector pensions really were ‘gold plated’ and accessible at a rather early age. 😂

buzzing · 30/04/2026 13:04

What happens if you’re not home when AM calls? Does he just lurk outside your house waiting for you to return? If that’s the case, he almost certainly hasn’t visited me yet as my neighbour messages me with every slightly strange thing that happens at our house during the day and this would definitely get a mention 😁

ScarlettSunset · 30/04/2026 13:40

I think I read Agent Millions comes round in the afternoon or early evening. I'm sure that must be true as they haven't been here yet.

lucywho123 · 30/04/2026 14:13

Ring doorbell has gone off twice for me today … just parcels. How disappointing:) Does anyone know what time they come out, I’d love to know. Surely a lot of people are out at work so how does that figure into their plans

Feelinglucky2025 · 30/04/2026 14:41

We’re in the middle of having some very expensive work being done in our garden so a decent win this month would be amazing to pay towards it. Unfortunately they are re-doing some work that we had done badly previously so having to pay for it to be rectified. I usually have high hopes of a big win until tomorrow where I will be hoping for any win at all.

elkiedee · 30/04/2026 17:41

Have just bought a few more bonds - min investment of £25 plus £1 for luck - preparing myself for the crushing disappointment on Saturday of winning nothing. Looking forward to the addition of a little monthly interest on my other savings.

Good luck everyone.

ExitPursuedByABare · 30/04/2026 17:43

Thanks for the new thread @Blondeshavemorefun

In hospital so could do with cheering up. Not the measly £25 last month.

I think a million is something I could hide. All I'd do immediately is pay off mortgage and car, go on a nice holiday then keep the rest. I'd work part time, that way people would see me working and not ask questions.

LatteLady · 30/04/2026 19:28

Oh hell's bells, I thought AM was tomorrow, so I have the day off and was set to bake them a cake... I will revert to sausage rolls instead. Anyway, just wanted to wish everyone lots of luck for the next few days... may you all have bright sunny days and nice msgs from NS&I.

I did see someone suggesting Raspberry Buns up thread and was immediately taken back to DS in school... Rock Cakes, Raspberry Buns, Scones then the Victoria sponge were the order in which we learnt to bake... fortunately our teacher was sick the week they taught us how to make a cup of tea, as I loathe it with a passion... although, I can still lay a very neat tray for morning coffee!

PennyPorchetta · 30/04/2026 20:29

I could hide £1m too @LatteLady really easily.

I'd pay off my mortgage, fund DC's university costs without loans, buy DC a new car and put £100k for each of them somewhere sensible, reduce my work to three days, increase my hobbies, new kitchen and bathrooms.

That would give me £500k left in the bank, hopefully it would earn £20k a year interest to make up my two days a week lost pay. I've worked it all out. Sadly the only time the door bell rang today it was for my delivery.

SENsupportplease · 30/04/2026 20:56

Having to yank out 15k in a few days so hoping this month has a good reward after months of rubbish.

Could really, really do with it. So much relentless pressure right now.

Harpsichord23 · 30/04/2026 21:05

My financial advisor told me that one of their other clients won the £1M PB years ago.

From what I remember the doorbell rang in the morning and they thought it was Jehovah’s Witnesses…. I think it was a weekend, but I could have got that wrong.

Apparently he was a retired High Court judge and had enough money so gave most of it to charity.

SwedishEdith · 30/04/2026 21:12

I do think that's one of the "worries" of winning big on the lottery - winning so much that your kids lose any incentive to work. A one million PB win is enough to make everyone's lives easier and better but not so much your kids didn't have to work. I would stop though 😁
