PREMIUM BONDS MAY/JUNE 2026

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/04/2026 13:19

PB have been about since 1957
Been 30yrs (April 2024) since a million was then the highest prize

Each bond is £1. You have to buy in minimum of £25 so means 25 chances to win every purchase - years ago you could buy £1 at a time.

Odds of winning £1 million on Premium Bonds at face value with £25 bonds are

1 in 2,737,857,636 - but 2 people have to win it every month so ……

To win anything odds are 1 in 23000

So providing you have more than £100 you have better odds winning something from pb than winning the lottery 😄

And obviously far better than the lottery - you don’t lose your stake !!!!!!

https://www.saga.co.uk/money-news/premium-bonds

Bonds have to be in for a clear month before going into the draw

If you want to cash bonds in then usually takes 3 days to go into your account

Winnings can be reinvested if holdings are under £50k

This means they will go into the next months draw without losing a month

Or sent to named bank account if winnings take over FH /want winnings in bank account
More info here

www.moneyhelper.org.uk/en/savings/types-of-savings/premium-bonds

The best time to buy premium bonds is on the last day of the month, as this means they are only held by NSI for one month and one day, without being entered into the prize draw.

PB to me is the fun and thrill each month of what if I win big and a millionaire - to then hoping win thousands to a day or two later being grateful if win £25😂

I have nowhere near the maximum and probably never will unless I win £50k + on pb

But only takes one £1 to win that million !!! Or in fact any prize

I love seeing the low holdings win high amounts

We've seen over the years £100 holding win a million (March 25) also a £100 holding win £100k and £50 win £25k and even £1 won £10k

Maximum is £50k per person so some do have all for family- mum dad and 2 kids so £200k etx

Those on the thread are varying from few hundred /few thousand - to 20/30k to full holdings of £50k

Everyone is welcome to join in whether small or full holdings

Obviously some people have better 'luck' than others and some worse - Ie full holdings and not winning anything a month or two or even longer

PB odds calculator below

https://pbprizes.com/calculator/

shows the interest rate of the winnings - obv anything over 3.30% is good as if in an account you wouid be taxed so be more like 3%

In August 2023, we had the highest 4.65% But it has been steadily falling since, and of April 2026 it’s 3.3 %

The consistent winners are the 1.16 million people who have the maximum £50,000.

They hold almost half of all premium bonds and, at current odds of 1/2300 can expect a monthly stream of tax-free prizes: two a month and three almost every other month, 28 or 29 a year totaling £1650 (3.3% interest on £50k)

So the median average will always be lower than the mean average.

This means that, with average luck, most people will win less than the prize rate each year, regardless of how many bonds they hold

To work out your own personal % rate
Winnings divided by amount have x 100

But many on here do have £50k and then consider moving it to an account that pays 4% if their bonds aren't doing very well as would then def get extra money

But remember savings /interest get taxed

PB and their winnings don't

So anything over 3% in winnings is considered good.

People dither whether to pull out from pb and put in high interest account if not winning anything so that they will def earn x amount of interest

But then lose the what if won a million or £100k

If you have PB but not sure if you have ever won esp if moved about a lot

you can write to NS&I

Include these details in the letter:
Current name
Current address
Premium Bond holder number& date of birth

All previous addresses where you might have registered bonds

There are 2 apps afaik
Cream - prize checker and if won previous month will show a pic - which we all get excited over 😂😂😂

Blue - the app its self works but the showing early often doesn't work for me but those who reinvest their winnings say it shows if won the day before app shows 🙀🙀🙀

Seems the higher the winnings the earlier it shows and can be from 6pm the night before the app shows

And to confuse things I have a White app that is a bookmark - which shows info/list 😄😄😄

Now this has been debated on MANY times but seems to be correct

When do we find out if going to get a visit from AM 😂

The two winners of the £1million prizes will be contacted by Agent Million (AM) 😂😂 the day before the first working day of the corresponding month.

There may however be exceptions to this, such as when the first working day of the month is a bank holiday, for example.

So
AM - Day before first working day - Millionaire knock /call

LIST - First day of working month showing all winners million to £1k winners - which I always put up for those who can't find it

APP - Day after first working day , including weekends - cream app showing all winnings

You can also check to see if have won via this link with your holders number

www.nsandi.com/prize-checker

Hopefully I've covered everything
Good luck one and all 😄

Grrr. Nothing. And frankly the message that they will always track us down for the £1m is not reassuring when I simply want £25 to find me!

WhatWouldDianeLockhartDo · 01/06/2026 06:17

In the savings or any account? My salary goes in and then my direct debits and bills go out but all disposable spending and saving gets done elsewhere. It’s active but clearly not active enough 😭

Same here - very active current account but nAtionwide closed my savings account in December and transferred balance into current account and I hadn't got around to opening a new savings with them until April so infuriatingly missed out by 15 days

StitchHappens · 02/06/2026 08:17

Anyone else having problems with the cream app? I checked just after midnight and won £100 on 47k. Ds had £150 on £26k. But when I went back to record the bond numbers the prizes weren't showing on the home screen, any ideas?
I got my bond numbers from the blue app, but can't do that for my DS's as you can only be logged in to one account.

First month (February) on full holdings: £125
March: £500
April: £1075
May: £100
June £200

Not bad, I guess!

Congrats to all, especially the 10k plus winner!

You could my other half he has had very similar wins on Fh this year!

Me: Full year of nothing on £4.5k. I’m not paying into the account but i’m not taking it out. Savings go elsewhere and trying to get rid of the mortgage.

Partner: Fh £1125. His highest ever win. He has had great luck this 6 months after a smaller amount in total last year. Sitting around £2220 for jan-june.

TubeScreamer · 02/06/2026 08:40

£100 on £40k

cream app working fine for me

EdwinaLIzzard · 02/06/2026 08:43

£100 for me on FH, so happy with that.

And as we hit the half year point I am sitting on winnings of £25,775 after a dodgy start with a big fat zero in January !!

Congratulations to all the winners and hugs to those not lucky this month.

Here’s to a bumper July for us all 💐

Freda69 · 02/06/2026 08:46

£250 for me and £250 for DH both on FH.
Ive won £1950 for Jan-Jun, so happy with that! That’s 3.9% and no tax to pay.
Well done to all the winners and better luck next time for everyone else.

HanJanFan · 02/06/2026 08:57

£150 on FH and nothing on 22k.

I'm tempted to pull out the smaller pot and put it elsewhere.

recklessgran · 02/06/2026 08:58

£575 for me and £100 for DH both on FH.
Up to now winnings have been thinner on the ground this year with a couple of blank months. After this months improvement now running at just over 4% return so very happy with that.
Congratulations @Parky04 hope you enjoy yourself in a meaningful way with your spectacular win and Happy Anniversary!

Heartbreaktuna · 02/06/2026 08:58

I pulled my FH out at the beginning of the year due to poor returns. I put it back in for June's draw in the hope my luck had changed, but alas not! Just £25 for me.

HouseMartinsHome · 02/06/2026 09:06

£125 on 40k

How can you work out percentage returns?

I have had 100-150 every month this year

WhatWouldDianeLockhartDo · 02/06/2026 09:09

Missingducks · 02/06/2026 08:10

Same here - very active current account but nAtionwide closed my savings account in December and transferred balance into current account and I hadn't got around to opening a new savings with them until April so infuriatingly missed out by 15 days

They clearly knew what they were doing there 😭🤦‍♀️

Bimblebombles · 02/06/2026 09:12

TheChicDreamer · 02/06/2026 07:50

So on top of my zero on 36k, dh has won zero on FH. 🙄

This always puts me into a bad mood… and it’s happening too often now! I think I may have to start seriously thinking about putting it into ISAs instead. I know it’s what I should be doing, but PBs are far more fun (well, supposedly!)

I feel the same - its so disheartening isn't it. A gloom hangs over the start go the month. About a year ago I was regularly winning a couple of hundred per month and that was paying for my hobby, whereas now I'm taking money out of savings to pay for it every month and I feel like I have to either stop the hobby or reinvest to something that pays better.

OublietteBravo · 02/06/2026 09:13

£250 on around £46k. Very welcome after 2 months of £0.

ExitPursuedByABare · 02/06/2026 09:17

That’s a weird one @Sprocketty

bluevelvetbox · 02/06/2026 09:19

Second month of nothing on FH! Very disappointing.

TheNoWord · 02/06/2026 09:23

Big fat zero for me but £125 for DH on £25k each. My second blank in a row so I need to win next month to catch him up!

LadyLucksalot · 02/06/2026 09:25

£100 here! I'm delighted. It's a little bonus from the Universe. This was beause I had made a particularly delicious tea loaf and there was lots leftover in anticipation of good things to come and a knock at the door.

Now, we have the rest of the tea loaf for the next few days to enjoy as well!

I should do a recipe book called "Waiting for Ernie".

Good luck to all for the next month's draw. On with the dance!

skyeisthelimit · 02/06/2026 09:31

3 wins totalling £175 for me on £20K holding.

RoseBliss · 02/06/2026 09:35

Congratulations @parky04 enjoy your winnings!

Big fat zero for me on £30k for the second month in a row (but feeling smug with myself that I took £20k out and put into an ISA just before the new tax year. Sure I'll have made more interest on that this month than I would have won on FH)

£75 on FH for DH

Fraughtmum · 02/06/2026 10:21

£150 here full holdings. £600 this year so far

TheChicDreamer · 02/06/2026 10:34

Yes - I was winning regularly last year too 😢
sorry to hear you’re in the same position as me. My DDs have won nothing either this month - so almost £100k of bonds between us as a family and absolutely nada!
I’m definitely going to start looking at other options.

FiloPasty · 02/06/2026 10:41

Mine haven’t been reinvested yet, normally that happens straight away.

Rubbleonthedouble2 · 02/06/2026 10:46

£120 on £30k 🫠

Better than nothing!

Dearover · 02/06/2026 10:50

I had 6 months with nothing whatsoever last year, then a couple of dinky prizes alongside a very unexpected, very nice one. I can happy. I expect a dry spell for the next few years now.
