Please can I ask your advice, I can put around £5-6k into an ISA before fiscal year and, I’m a bit useless with finances so can I ask which ones you, if you’re savvy with money, would chose please, and why (adding to my non existent knowledge!) thank you

Stocks and shares or cash isa?

No idea! I’m literally a beginner here … I just thought ISA but very happy to hear anyone with experience and who can educate me

I opened up a new cash isa with Plum. Or you could look at trading 212.

As an absolute beginner, I recommend starting with Martin Lewis’s website. It breaks down all manner of financial advice into simple terms and has lots of information on ISA’s, starting with which type will suit you best.

I subscribe to consumer magazine “Which?” and their website is excellent. They offer the first month at a reduced price of £5. but some of their information is free.

Personally I have Stocks and Shares. My ISA will allow me to top it up, but recommend I pay into it by 2 April to ensure the money arrives in time for the tax year cut off. So don’t leave it until the last minute!
Good luck!

I have a cash ISA with Trading 212 - got the information from Money Saving Expert's website. Good interest rate, and easy to set up. I have the app on my phone.

is this for retirement savings? Or a shorter investment horizon? If you will need to use the money in the next few years put it in a cash ISA. If you have a longer term plan then stocks and shares ISA.
