Mortgage broker or DIY?

Our 1.14% mortgage is coming to an end on 31st May. 😩We’ve been looking at some comparison sites and found a deal (although not great, but I suppose nothing will be compared to what we had!!) Not had a mortgage broker before. Should we find one or just stick with what we’ve found?

If your situation is straight forward I wouldn’t pay for a broker, but there are lots of whole market brokers that work off commission from the lender, no harm seeing if they can do better for you, may save you some admin as they can do the chasing etc for you. I’d just be upfront, say you found X rate, can they do better. London and country are often recommended I believe (not used them myself).

Weve done it with and without a broker, we needed to go to a specific lender for one mortgage so the easiest option was directly applying (I liked having the control also) we had one awful time with a broker who was absolutely crap, wouldn’t touch her again with a barge pole, but have used a couple others I would use again.

Why not try a free broker like L&C? If they don't beat what you've found yourself then stick with that.

Thanks, will have a look at L&C. It’s just a straight forward remortgage.

We have always done it ourselves. We weren't just wanting the cheapest rate and were looking at other factors. We found a bank with competitive rates, portable mortgage, unlimited overpayments and excellent customer services so we went with them.
