Universal credit routine review

purpleme12 · 18/02/2026 20:05

I've just had a message saying
You need to check and confirm your details.
This is a routine review to make sure you're receiving the right amount of universal credit.
I started on universal credit in October 2023.
I must have estimated how much I earn a year in guess because it gives a figure of how much I usually earn. And the figure was probably right when I started it.
I checked my P60 for last year and the amount I earn has gone up. But then universal credit take the figures in real time don't they? So surely they'll know anyway?? So I don't really get why they're asking that if it's done in real time each month.
My amount in my current account has gone down by a couple of hundred from the figure it says I have.
And my amount in my savings has gone up by a few hundred from the figure it says I gave.
What happens then? Do they just adjust payments accordingly? If they need to be adjusted?

Not everyone's earnings are reported automatically

How much do you have in savings? If it's under £6000 then they won't affect your claim

purpleme12 · 18/02/2026 20:10

Mine are because my amount I get from universal credit are different each month depending on how much I earn (and childcare is different each month)

I have over £6000 altogether (including current account and savings). But they know this because a bit is already deducted because of this. It's just that I've now realised my savings have gone up by a few hundred. But then again my current account the figure in there has gone down. But what is the next steps? Is this one where they ask me to send in bank statements like I've heard people have to do?

And when it says about the amount I usually earn, do they want me to put in the figure from my P60 last year? Will that ring alarm bells because it's more than the figure I put in in 2023? But it shouldn't because they've been seeing the amount I earn each month. I don't get it.

I've just checked my account and my original reported wage is considerably under what it is now but it wasn't commented on when I had a review about 6 months ago. My earnings are reported directly to them

I had to upload statements from my savings and current accounts

purpleme12 · 18/02/2026 20:19

@Hammy19 thanks

Were your figures a bit different?

Did they ask you to upload statements after the message of the routine review checking? What happened after that?

Is this something I should worry about

OP posts:

So you think I should just put in my figure from my P60 for my figure that I usually earn?

(It's never going to be 100 per cent accurate anyway because I get bonus every 3 months which can differ)

I had this same message. They just ask for 4 months statements for all accounts. Submitted via the link in to do list and I’ve not heard anything since

purpleme12 · 18/02/2026 20:27

@houseofisms thanks

When did you submit yours?
I'll have to get some bank statements I guess

Bit worried now

What information are they looking on statements?

OP posts:
Hammy19 · 18/02/2026 20:39

They asked for the statements in the first message, I sent them in and they booked a phone interview, that lasted about 10 minutes and then I had to upload more statements because I'd only done my main current account and not my second one where I pay all my bills from. 2 hours after I sent them, they said the review was complete and that was it

They'll be checking that you pay for all your essential bills yourself

Just be completely honest. At the end of the day, they can access your bank statements without your permission anyway so honesty is the best policy

Hammy19 · 18/02/2026 20:40

I just downloaded mine from my online banking and they sent a link for me to upload them direct to my UC account

purpleme12 · 18/02/2026 20:43

How much statements did you have to send in?

OP posts:
Thereinaminute · 18/02/2026 20:48

Check your to do list. It will have what they want to see listed there.

They don't care what you spend your money on but will ask about large cash withdrawal/deposits and transfers.

If your capital figure has changed they will update this based on the latest statements at the end of the review call.

purpleme12 · 18/02/2026 20:57

I paid out £500 at the vets the other day but that's obvious why.
I'm not aware i have any other big payments.

Bit worried now

What information are they looking on statements?

They either do a soft check or if you have a meeting (if in person you take your statements with you) or online you usually submit before meeting so they can prepare questions about your transactions etc.
my partner and I transfer to money to each other throughout the month to cover bills etc but he likes to add thinks like ‘sexual services’ in the payment reference which always makes it fun. 😂

Ive always been massively open and honest about savings especially when above £6k (I got a £100k life insurance payout)

purpleme12 · 18/02/2026 21:43

I guess I better do it tomorrow get it over with

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 19/02/2026 10:00

If they ask to see the last 3 months bank statements then it still won't show the figure it is now in the account because the last 3 months statements will be Jan, December and November?

OP posts:
Hammy19 · 19/02/2026 10:24

Just send what you've got, they'll let you know if they need anything else

purpleme12 · 19/02/2026 11:15

It's asking me when this change happened?? Well the amount in my bank changes all the time?? Am I supposed to put today's date cos that's the figure I'm putting down?

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 19/02/2026 14:05

I've submitted the figures

I still don't understand why it asks you for amount earned if it gets them in real time

It didn't immediately ask for bank statements? Although I guess it might do still?
