Is this water bill high

We’ve been here 12 months. Im only now taking notice of everything and I suspect we have a leak, now today our water bill arrived and I realise I do not know what is normal and chatgpt suggests not.

it’s a 4 bed, 70s house we are renovating. 2A and 2c.

we do run a dishwasher, perhaps a load of laundry a day and I would say perhaps 11 baths per 7 days.

any ideas?

do you know where your meter is? Can you read it? Mine used to be in a cupboard that was incredibly difficult- now it’s outside and they can read it over WiFi.

read your meter at the end of the day for a couple of days, have one day with baths and a day without ( if possible) see how much difference it’s making. Dishwasher is better than by hand but don’t rinse dishes if using daily.

you can’t use it for baths but you can use for flushing loo, laundry, water garden, washing cars

as your bill is high the cost of putting in you’d regain quickly

plus the way you are billed, the less water you take from mains - the less you pay for taking it away - as you’re charged for both

I'm not sure if all water companies are the same but when we moved in (ie the bill holder changed) we had to have a meter, so if you're unsure you probably do have one.

My combined water and sewerage is now about £45 pm for two of us, me and adult DS2, and a garden I water fairly frequently.

I was paying £85pm when DS1 lived here with his epic shower habit!
