Step Change DM plan

I have, after much deliberation, entered a DM plan with step change. My impulsivity and undiagnosed ADHD have affected me massively for years, COVID made it worse and I have spiralled. I am in debt and I have no savings

I can't control spending, I can't manage a budget, I can't forecast, I've been getting myself into these situations for years.

I'm hoping this will get me on the straight and narrow finally at almost 50.

I do intend to pay extra is I can to get through the debts sooner.

I just have 2 questions if anyone can help:

Do I cancel all my DD now? I have payments due out tomorrow to about 15 debtors and I can't afford it hence the DM plan.

If I have a little extra each month left over unexpectedly, can i pay this additionally off a debt direct to the debtor?

Did step change not tell you what to do? Are they arranging payment plans with the companies you are in debt to? If they have done this try to make sure you pay whatever amount you have promised.

If step change are handling these debt payments I assume you should cancel the DDs. I assume you have been advised to pay off the highest rate debts first. So if you have money left pay the highest rate debts down, if you are not sure ask step change.

It sounds like you need to clarify things with step change so you are not at cross purposes.

Thank you for your response. Bit nervous about it all. I sat and worked out my debts had totalled around £15000 all in. I have put all the details together today and have sent in the application, just waiting to hear back. They've advised to ask for a payment break with creditors or pay what is already arranged with them until they confirm they have contacted creditors. I will however be around £300 a month better off once it is in place and this will give me a little breathing space until I sort myself out.
