Our situation has changed dramatically.

DH had lost his job.

We informed them and was told I would continue to recieve child tax credits, but NOT working families as he is unemployed.

Today I was expecting £80 of just ChildTC.

But there have been 2 depostits but in by them, one of £90 one of £108.

and also £22 working families (which I assume is just a bit left over what they owe us since DH stopped working)

DH says that the child tax might be money thats raised because of him not working at the moment and also backdated from the time he stopped working?

WWould you ring them?

We really could do with this money

Or would you just pay things off with it??

Could you afford to pay it back in a few months time? Not that I am suggesting letting them continue to make their cock up, as they are in possession of all the facts.

Have they done a breakdown of how it has been calculated? It may be because your dp has lost his job?

windygalestoday · 13/06/2008 08:33

heres what i think (probably not right but....) withdraw the money so they cant take it back spend it wisely and deal with any queries later

odditiesgeteven · 13/06/2008 08:38

hello

RECORD WHO TOLD YOU THAT IT WAS A one off payment as this happened to me. I got alot more money and i was overpaid due to their mistake (which i am arguing) as it was over 400.

Make a note of who and when you called so if it happens that they try to claim it back you can argue it

coolkat · 14/06/2008 09:38

Take a name, date of call, time of call and exactly what was discussed.

Just had to pay £3000 back from the year 2005, even admitted it was their error letter from MP and everything. Hate TC and anything to do with tax credits
There went any savings we had worked hard for
