Anyone ever changed their gas and electricity to a Prepay/Powercard meter?

Do the utility company charge to change the meter?

is it just more expensive for electricity or for gas aswell?

Definitely more expensive - have lived in houses with leccy/gas key meters, and my granny flat which I let out has a key meter.

They give me quarterly updates on how much has been spent on the meter - it's a very small 1-bed flat and the current tenant uses about 50p a day on average (she's out a lot); the previous one who had TV, computer etc on all day and used the cooker and washer/dryer loads spent around £1 to £1.50 a day.

In comparison MrNC and I use about £1 a day for the entire rest of the house.

it may be cheaper in that they won't get burned by their estimated DD being too low or a sharp rise in their DD.

I have NO idea how but with one of those meters a lot of my neighbours didnt ever pay for electric.
I know Nutty had a dodgy meter too from the tenants before her and she had a lot of bother with it.
So tread carefully.

Ebico are a non-profit-making gas/electric supplier who charge the same rate for prepay customers as for those who pay by Direct Debit.
