I would like to max out my LISA and overpay our mortgage by £5k as well as increase pension contributions

Max my ISA allowance, £20k into my SIPP too, generally maximise my income while spending what I like (I’m 63, self-employed, plan to carry on for another 4 years but not holding back on fun in the here and now)

curiositykilledthiscat · 03/12/2025 22:41

Buy a house and start a SIPP. I would also like to stop using my credit card unless for emergencies.

Goldmember · 03/12/2025 23:10

Really boring but serious saving. We're halfway through an attempt to pay off our £100k mortgage in 2yrs by the end of 2026. We're just over halfway in savings at the moment and will probably have a ~£15k balance left.

After that's done, it's saving for a new bathroom and kitchen to finish our reno.

PermanentTemporary · 03/12/2025 23:16

Pay for dp’s 60th birthday present and the celebration holiday together.

Then to save a chunk towards the next big house job - we think the roof needs doing. May take another ?3 years to save up?

MzGG · 03/12/2025 23:23

I’d like to add to my Emergency Fund as much as possible, I’d also like to invest more into my SIPP. I’m currently investing £40 a month, but would like to invest more.

PauliesWalnuts · 03/12/2025 23:26

Add to my emergency fund as it’s only £1500 and save up for a new boiler and make a dent in the credit card bill.

Frozenbiscuit5 · 04/12/2025 12:44

To clear my debt fully apart from the mortgage and have a decent emergency fund. Hoping I can do that by the end of 2026
Then I can start saving for a house move in a couple of years.
So need to get rid of nearly £12k of debt, emergency fund only has about £2k, I would like about £6k in there by the end of the year, so about £1330 a month to go against debt and savings each month. I think it may be an unrealistic target really as it leaves me £1.5k to pay for everything else each month including my mortgage, but I would like to at least get close to the goal

Wigtopia · 04/12/2025 12:46

Win big on premium bonds 🤣

amoosebouche · 04/12/2025 14:30

Make a dent in car loan.

Save enough to go abroad in Summer.

Increase my income by middle of year, and then increase payments into S&S ISA/SIPP.

Stick to new rule from this year of never putting anything on a credit card.

RollOnSunshine · 04/12/2025 14:39

Finally locate the £2 coin I dropped down the sofa in June. That fecker is in there somewhere!

Chocja · 04/12/2025 16:44

I want to retire early, so am planing on continuing my existing pension contributions and am wanting to max out my S&S ISA. I currently have no idea how I’m going to mange that and pay all the bills and eat, but that’s the challenge.

Sortalike · 04/12/2025 18:00

Pay off all my debt and then plough that money into savings.

macshoto · 04/12/2025 18:08

Regain some paid employment. A year of no income has been long enough.

In the fortunate position that we could afford this, but in early 50’s would like to still be gainfully employed.

BuddhaAtSea · 04/12/2025 18:14

I need to clear a credit card, I have savings but I don’t want to use them. 0% transfer and interest for 12 months started in November.
Max the ISA and restart a S&S ISA.

Gimmethemoney · 05/12/2025 11:19

Haven't sat down yet to do a full 2026 plan.
Fund some internal decoration/renovation work
Assess the mortgage situation as we have to renew sometime in 2027, trying to see if we can get under the next LTV band.
Our savings and pensions are in good shape and on track so I don't need to do much there, although I will probably shift a bit more out of cash and into the Stocks & Shares ISA going forward.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 05/12/2025 11:21

To cancel my TV licence and Car Tax whenever im away for a month ... not giving this government any more than I have to.

GonzoGonzo · 05/12/2025 13:58

Increase by personal savings by £12k by a combination of saving and investments gains. The second would be taking on more debt by moving to a bigger property. I'm 43 and don't want to leave it to late to get a bigger mortgage that we are comfortable with.

Volumeindrive · 05/12/2025 14:09

I want to sell our business and retire, it’s starting to feel like a real bind.

Ohmygodthepain · 05/12/2025 14:14

Nothing as extreme as some of you as I appear to be in a financial minority.

I have less than £1000 to pay off my mortgage but things have been mental (single parent, youngest DC just started uni in Sept, lost child maintenance and CB etc).

Get that paid off then saving for my 50th. Keep adding to little pots here and there, next big thing is decorating the hall/stairs/landing.

FuelledByRageAndHaribo · 05/12/2025 17:00

I want to save £500 a month

gianfrancogorgonzola · 05/12/2025 17:21

clear the mortgage! Only 5k to go. Carry on with the saving / investing plans I started this year. Boring but it really works and seeing the balance go up has completely replaced any shopping dopamine.

Starlight40 · 05/12/2025 19:07

Goals for 2026-
Save for emergency fund
get my credit card down. Currently £2500
clear my husband’s laser eye finance

Wingingitbestican · 05/12/2025 19:30

Max out ISA, put as much as I can into pension, overpay 10% on my mortgage, save up for a new driveway, and save up for a big holiday for my 50th.

ADifferentKindOfMum · 07/12/2025 09:36

Reduce or eliminate my credit card balance (would like it gone for when I remortgage mid-year), keep paying into my S&S ISA, regular ISA, and hard to access savings account. Continue to overpay mortgage by the little bit I do every month.
Start thinking how to support my Son at Uni a little bit. I’m a single parent, with a disability so I’m limited to how much work I can do, I manage 21 hours a week which just about keeps the wolves from
the door.

Ireolu · 08/12/2025 18:55

Paying off a big mortgage as with the interest rate spike we don't want to be paying more monthly. Not sure we will manage. We have 2/3rds of it saved.
