Low capacity for work assessment

Hello, does anyone know how long it takes to make a decision? I had my assessment by phone two and a half weeks ago so I know it’s not been long. I just want a rough idea so I know what to expect. My reasons for having low capacity are not complex.

There's no time scale really. It will depend if they need to get any further information form your Drs or health professionals. Some receive decisions within a couple of weeks and others take months.

The assessment by the Healthcare Professional is a significant part of the process but is only part of the information used by the Decision Maker who will also have evidence from your doctor etc.

When the system started there was a lot of criticism of DMs letting the HCP reports drive the outcome.

Thank you. The phone assessment took 4 hours!!! It was exhausting and I’m not sure what kind of healthcare professional the asssesor was but they didn’t seem to know much about common
medical conditions.

And there's another problem. If the HCP has a solid background in, say, Nursing that's one thing. Physiotherapy less so.

Common to both ESA and PIP are HCP reports that seem to have barely a passing resemblance to the person seeking advice about review/appeal processes.

The one that sticks in my mind had received a heart/lung transplant. She just about managed to walk into the civic centre and a few yards accross the Atrium to our interview room supported by a stick and herr sister.

From the HCP report you'd have thought she could do a marathon!!
