Hi!

Our washing machine has just packed up and so we are looking for a new one -
we have it down to 2 Samsung Eco Bubbles.

This

Samsung Series 5 WW80CGC04DAEEU ecobubbleâ„¢ and SmartThings Washing Machine, 8kg 1400rpm

Or This

Samsung Series 5 WW90CGC04DABEU ecobubbleâ„¢ with SmartThings Washing Machine, 9kg 1400rpm

Which one is better? Is it better having an 8kg or 9kg for a family of 4? Is one better than the other?

We have never had a Samsung before so would love some honest answers - particularly regarding these two models!

Thank you!!!

Hmmm... we got an ecobubble in 2013 and loved it. Did 3 children i cloth nappies and as babies (so heavy heavy use). It packed in in 2020 and we felt it had done well given how often it was used. (Had also moved house down three flights of stairs, 3 months in storage then up 2 flights of stairs).

The replacement had 3 repairs- one a costly part replacement and died earlier this year having been wonky for the last year and a half. I wouldn't buy one again (have loads of other samsung products and like them). The button on it was also badly designed so even a minor brush past would shut it off and you would have to start from the beginning again, though it would weigh the water and assume it was an oversized load and take ages. Not so bad in our utility room, but would be awful in a kitchen.

The engineer reccomended bosch. It is great, cleans well but does take much longer than the basic samsung settings.

We've got a Samsung Ecobubble at our home in Portugal and it's, er, suboptimal. The eco cycle takes longer than the maid comes for (first world problem, I know) so she uses a shorter cycle and things just don't get cleaned properly. No idea what model it is, it was an ex-display model in an independent retailer and didn't even come with the destruction booklet. We also have the issue PP mentioned about a particularly sensitive dial.

We've got a Bosch Serie 4 washer (I think 8kg) in England, and I'd take it every day.

On 8kg vs 9kg: washing machines for the European market are designed to fit a standard space 60cm wide. The laws of physics means there is a theoretical maximum to the size of the drum. For normal cottons (family of four, two adults and two primary school children) a load of less than 5kg completely fills the drum and - more to the point - uses more clothes horse space than we actually have. I'm sure if I wanted to wash a drum full of denim, or I wore lead underpants, then 9kg would be helpful, but I don't ever do that and it's overkill.

I had a Samsung eco bubble, can’t rate it highly. It had constant issues before breaking spectacularly after just 3 yrs.

We had an indest one which lasted 10 years! At the time we were a family of 4 and used the machine about 4-5 days a week. We’ve just replaced it with a Bosch Series 6. I chose Bosch has we have a dishwasher and oven by them and both are going strong after 8 years so I’m hopeful for the washing machine too.
