I'm recently separated, ex is not contributing financially. My outgoings are more than my income as I work full time already but I know I need a second job. Does anyone know of any good working from home opportunities or side hustles etc?

I’m nearly 20k in debt and it’s giving me anxiety. If I get a 2nd job, I will be taxed at 40% - please help with any ideas

What hours do you currently work?

Where in the country are you.

Do you drive and have access to a car?

Assuming you want evening work delivering food, bar / waiting work / call centre.

A friend of mine drives a cab.

Dog walking?

Working in a take away?

Supermarket shelf stacker?

Do check benefits to see if you can claim anything.

What's the debt? If it is credit cards contact them and tell them you cannot pay and make a payment plan with them.

Go to the Martin Lewis site and take on the advice there.

It's going to be tough for a while, but you will survive this.

Are you crafty in any way? Making and selling on Etsy or such worked for me. Although can be time consuming and if you are already full time then that might be tough. Why isn't he contributing? Can you go through the courts?

Do you have a spare room you could rent out.

Have you checked to make sure that you’re claiming any benefits that you’re entitled to?

Have you looked through your outgoings and reduced where you can?

If a second job will be taxed at 40 percent you must earn reasonably well in your first job. Can you do any paid overtime at work? Can you ask for a raise? Can you apply for promotion? Can you do any consultancy work around your main role?

What's your housing situation and do you have DC living with you? If you can't pay basic living costs while earning over £50k there could be scope to downsize or move somewhere cheaper.

Either way a formal solution for your debts is probably needed, but you need advice from a debt charity, but you should first put together a statement of your finances

Viewber is worth looking at if they operate in your area.

Bank working as a care or support worker.

You need to look at your outgoings.
Are you able to get a better paid job? That would be the best option if it was available to you.

I am a higher rate tax payer and relocating this summer and finally buying my own home. I want to bring in a bit of extra income so am thinking of doing cat / small pet feeding. Later down the line when my own lovely dog is no longer around, my plan is to do dog sitting in owners home. I work full time but as my kids have grown up now, I have plenty of time in the evening and weekends but not sure about taking on a second job in a supermarket for example. As I will be taxed 40% but popping in to feed cats is not too strenuous and any extra income will go towards paying off my mortgage earlier than planned as i’m 49 and only just starting a 25yr mortgage.
