Fraudulent transaction made

I had a fraudulent transaction made last week on my Bank account.
Scammer managed to Phone up my bank and give all personal details but more worryingly passing all of the security checks to make a new transaction transfer of £8K to another account.
Luckily bank have refunded the money, however I feel like the bank should not have allowed this to happen with a phone call especially with the security questions and checks you must go through to complete a new transaction or payment.
I understand that unfortunately name, address, and even bank account sort code can be obtained by fraudsters nowadays but how the hell did they phone up and pretend to be me (similar voice according to fraud squad) and pass all security questions with my bank?

Do I have a case for a complaint/compensation claim due to breach of data/confidentiality with the bank? Did they miss or let something slide?
The fraud team we spoke to said they had no idea how this was allowed to go though and it shouldn’t have happened.

Card cloning, atm etc scammers online I’m familiar with but the fact this fraudster phoned the bank and pass security checks is highly concerning especially as I don’t even remember the security question when phoning the bank as we haven’t used it for donkeys years.

Where do I stand?
Am I Right to take this further?

If they passed the security checks, they must know the answers to your security questions. Could it be someone close to you? The bank have refunded you, you are not out of pocket, what would the compensation be for?

Was this Barclays, by any chance? I demonstrated to my ex-partner how easy it was to get into his bank account on the phone; he was totally unaware. I learned about their poor security after someone accessed mine; they did not actually need to know the security questions and answers. Only very basic stuff was needed, things anyone could get hold of if they come to your home.

I would be more concerned to try and uncover who did this as I would imagine it was someone who knows you.

I obviously won't go into the process because someone may decide to do it. :)

First thought is somebody who knows you.

How active are you on social media? Could someone have used your posted information to find the answers to the questions?

Barclays is seriously rubbish. I closed my account with them too. After seeing someone lose money due to fraud. They were no help!

I would be asking if they could share the recording in case it was someone I knew...

Edited because have seen this is a zombie post that has been randomly resurrected, so ignore me, the recording will be long gone by now probably.

Is this one of the banks that uses your voice as your password? If so, have you received any weird calls lately where people are trying to get you to speak, and then mysteriously hang up? I’m sure there was something on Moneybox about voice cloning and fraud quite recently.
