Currently with EE and paying around £60 per month; but this includes my daughter’s phones which are in a lower price.

What people use? How much you pay?

Thinking of cancelling also spotify, but will discuss with the family first.

Thank you all. I called EE. I am paying:

£30 for me 100GB, not sure I ever use this
£15.50 DD1 25 GB
£13.50 DD2 4GB

They have offered:

£20 for me
£9 DD1
£9 DD2 increase data allowance to 30B

I am out of contract so can change anytime. Will I be able to keep same numbers?

Yes you just request a pac code when you swap. Very easy to do.

isthesolution · 29/09/2025 19:29

£45 a month for the five of us - unlimited data minutes and texts from Smarty.

You are paying wayyyyyyy too much!

That still sounds expensive to me, how much data are you all actually using

£60 was insane but even nearly £40 is crazy

Do you live somewhere that no other networks operate?

I know, £60 was for 3 phones including VAT. I just never looked at it, I was so busy with work that didn’t have the mental space, but have been off for burnout and changing jobs soon.

We live in London. Levara offers the best deals,

Thank you. Wondering if I have to inform EE, we are out of contract? Or just buy sim cards and do transfer.

One more question, what is the reception/coverage with other providers? Including when I go overseas for holidays,

Check out O2 sim only. If you go via Uswitch you can get deals for £8. Coverage is really good abroad too.

I'm with iD mobile & pay £6 a month for 4 GB. Any left over rolls over & I use very little as usually on wifi. It uses the 3 network & has been excellent. Free usage in Europe with no daily charges luhe some. If I go further afield I use an esim.
The cheaper companies piggy back on the big companies so will be EE, O2, 3 etc.
(Sorry if repeating information, have only read the OP's posts).

Jmaho · 30/09/2025 09:11

We're all on SIM only contracts with ID mobile. Mine is £10pm and is unlimited calls etc and 50gb data
Kids are £8pm and get 25gb I think. More than enough
We pay £44pm for 5 of us
I have had my phone for about 4 years. If any break I buy reconditioned ones off Amazon for a fraction of the price of new
I have been with literally every mobile phone operator out there and in my opinion ID mobile are the best. App is so easy to use. Can transfer your number so quickly and easily and they get you use your data allowance abroad too within the EU

Abominableday · 30/09/2025 09:17

We pay around £60 monthly with EE too - that's for four sims. I do like that I can gift data between the different phones. It's in dh's name so it's harder for me to try to reduce the price

Dbank · 30/09/2025 09:31

I pay £14 on Vodafone, and buy used iPhones from Music Magpie.

I'm sure there are cheaper options, but I have found Vodafone coverage to be superior in my area and stick with them.

Itisabeautifulday · 30/09/2025 09:41

Thank you all.

I want to reduce the bill but want to ensure we have good coverage

All the providers should have UK coverage maps on their websites

Abroad is too big a question to answer

Harrysmummy246 · 30/09/2025 12:53

SIM free handset of a less well known make (android OS) plus smarty SIM. I have 2, one with my business no and one with the no all family knows etc

skyeisthelimit · 30/09/2025 12:59

I am with Vodafone. I buy s/h iphones from The iOutlet for £200-£300 (sometimes using Paypal credit or similar to spread the cost interest free).

My SIM only is £12.76 a month for about 5GB data and DD is £12.76 a month but with 100GB of data.

Belladog1 · 30/09/2025 13:01

I buy a 2nd hand phone from Backmarket. My SIM has unlimited date, minutes etc .... and it costs £13 a month with EE.

Stoneblock · 30/09/2025 13:01

I keep my phones until they stop working and pay £10pm for a sim only with Tesco that gives me more data than I could ever use.

loubielou31 · 30/09/2025 13:07

Money Saving Expert is where you need to head. They have guides on everything, best bank accounts, best phone deals, entertainment packages... (But specifically phones, keep your older handset and get a SIM only deal, it will save you a lot of money)
