Housing element of universal credit - can anyone advise?

Sorry this is long but I want to put all the facts down so it’s clear.
I am separating from my abusive husband. The abuse has mainly been financial with coercive and controlling behaviour being part of it too. This has left me in a really difficult financial situation. We own a property and I put a very large deposit down (6 figures). It’s all gone now because of his debts. He is also not contributing to the mortgage or utilities anymore. I am considering selling it to one of those companies that buys it quickly. He is on board with this as long as he gets a few grand out of it.
The difficulty I have is because of his debts, some of which are in joint names, my credit rating is not great. I also cannot afford to buy a decent property in our area at the moment.
This has left me considering renting for a short period whilst I get my credit score back up to a healthy number. But rent prices are crazy.
As it stands I am not entitled to universal credit, but I’m not too much over the threshold (about £100) My question is, if I was to go in rented does the threshold lower, so will I be entitled to some universal credits to help meet the rental costs? Or am I basically financially screwed forever?

It’s not so much that the threshold lowers but rather circumstances as a whole change- have a look at the entitled.to calculator to check.

How much money will you be left with from the sale of the house though? Because unless you are using that to buy another property pretty much straight away (they will only disregard for 6 months and only if it is obviously being used to buy a home e.g. offer in, just waiting for process) then it will be classed as savings and depending on the amount you would have to spend that before being entitled to any UC.
