Back working worried about debts

I’ve not worked for a long time with young children. I’ve now started a 10 hour job. I make roughly 550 a month

I have debts about 10-12,000. Will creditors apply to seize my wages?

Do you live alone?
Are you also receiving UC?
Could you up your hours?

I live alone with 3 kids. I’m trying to get another job as well.

can they arrest my 10 hours a week?

How old are your debts ? When is the last time you made a payment to them ?
Any other household income

Please get advice from Citizens Advice, not random posters on MN.

Debts are 2 years old plus some are really old like 7-10 years. I do receive UC
no other house hold income.

Speak to CAP or step change. Do not pay for debt advice. They will help deal with your creditors and sort out a payment plan.

No they can't take your wages but it sounds like you need individual advice from a debt charity, after they've fully assessed your circumstances.

Do you own or rent your home? Do you have a car?

You are probably struggling to service that amount of debt on that income. I imagine you’ve already defaulted on your repayments?

It is possible for creditors to get attachment of earnings order if they take you through the court system - but that is highly, highly, highly unlikely.

Assuming you can’t pay, your best option to head off any aggressive debt recovery action by creditors is to approach a debt advice charity such as Stepchange or Christians Against Poverty.
