UC deductions changed - £411 disregard

I claim UC and have been for a while (single person and housing benefit parts)
Usually the first £411 of my wages are disregarded in the 55p for every £1 deduction however this month it’s not been which means I’m over £200 worse off!
I’ve rang the helpline but they say they don’t know why it’s happened.
Has anyone else had this? Is it a new change?
Ive written in my journal asking for an explanation but god knows how long that’ll take…

Pretty sure there's no change in the rules around work allowance.

Have you a son/daughter who has left education?

@Bromptotoo yes my daughter recently left education so I knew I’d lose the £339 child element but does it mean I lose the £411 deduction clause aswell?

Yes.

The original UC concept was that every working claimant would get a work allowance but as implemented it's only applied if you have dependant children or limited capability for work.

Thankyou @Bromptotoo that explains why it’s happened!

Having children leave education is quite a steep ledge! Most of the time they still need financial support as I'd imagine there aren't many that go from full time education to full time work in the space of a week.

My daughter just left education and I've told her I can't help her financially any more. I obviously still house her and feed her, but I can't help out with extras now. I can barely pay the bills on one household income.

My youngest will leave college in two years which means that the older children will need to be working and paying a contribution if we are going to keep the house running. It is so hard being on a single income the way the cost of living has risen.
