Want to leave my stressful job but need to top up my private pension by 100 net a week to make money up. Partner doesn’t want me to totally retire incase we need the financial backup in the future so trying to think what i can do for six hours a week to make £400 monthly.

Why only 6 hrs? That’s not even a full day. Could you just look for a part time job? Or go self employed depending on what your experience and qualifications are.

So you need to earn £16.66 (say £17) an hour? Do you have any saleable skills?

What about something that's a couple of shifts a week? Even at NMW 2 x 6 hours is £145 ish, so you'll be over £100 pw after tax and over the month it doesn't need to be quite so many hours as £100 pw averages at £430 pm over the year.

Or could you do cleaning, pet sitting/walking etc? Consultancy or something seasonal in your industry? If the money is for 'financial back up' rather than needed on a regular basis for living expenses it won't matter if pay is irregular and could still average the £5k per year you're looking for.

Or is there something at a lower grade in your industry that you could do - eg TA instead of teaching?

I’m getting older and have worked in a very stressful job for years and don’t even want to do six hours as not feeling that well but partner insists I have got to do something to top up money otherwise we might not be able to afford the bills in a few years time.

What does your budget look like? Depending on how much slack is in it, it might be just a case of reviewing your expenses, changing what you buy and where you shop etc. Some people have a lot of 'lifestyle' spending that could be reduced if necessary especially if there's an incentive to work less or not at all.

I have a full-on job but walk a few dogs in my spare time. It’s been wonderful.

Amazon advertise working from home, part time, customer adviser roles.

I do Home Help for Age UK for a bit of extra cash. It’s domestic help for older people in their own homes. No care work involved just a bit of hoovering/making the bed/ironing/tea and chat. I get about £14 an hour for that so I’d need to do 8 hrs a week to earn £100 but pay rates vary around the country. It’s such nice work- easy and pleasant.

The Alzheimer's society have positions that are a few hours a week running a support session
