Best credit card?

RBS have just cheekily binned me off as my card has expired and I didn’t call them to renew in time. So any good cards that people recommend? I’ll be paying it off in full each month. Thanks!

Last time I wanted a credit card I found the info on Moneysaving Expert useful: www.moneysavingexpert.com/borrowing/

John Lewis Partnership Card gives you vouchers to spend at JL and is pretty good.

It depends on what you want it for. If it is for cash back then Amex is the best. Not all places accept it, but places you are likely to spend substantial amounts, such as petrol stations and supermarkets, do. Always make sure you have a direct debit set up to automatically repay the full balance each month as borrowing on any credit card is madness!

Amex for cashback. I use the one with £25 annual fee and average £250pa on cashback.
Halifax Clarity for travel abroad

All other cards are much the same, especially if you pay in full every month.

For Balance Transfers or 0% purchases, I'd join MSE credit club for the best offers tailored to you.

If you shop a lot in certain shops the credit cards that give vouchers for them can be ok but make sure it's the shop you spend a lot in as the points elsewhere are generally very low. I have a M&S card as I shop a lot in M&S. JL one is good if you shop a lot in JL or Waitrose

I’d use this as s starting point too, work out what matters to you and it will recommend.

It really depends what you want it for. I have a Barclaycard Rewards CC for using abroad as no fees, AMEX for day to day purchases and have just got a 0% on purchases for 23 months from M&S as plan a large purchase.

HSBC Premier gives you M&S gift cards and Halifax clarity has no fees for using overseas.
